We absolutely love this hotel. We first visited in 2014 and have dreamed of returning, having had to cancel in 2020 and 2021 owing to Covid. We were delighted to finally return in 2023 to find it was just as good as we remembered, it is an absolute gem. The place is beautiful, the staff are friendly but relaxed, the little touches like the honesty bar and pool are really welcome, and in general we love the feeling of luxurious escape but without pretension. Also importantly, the breakfast and dinner are absolutely delicious every time. Thank you for this truly wonderful place, we hope to return sooner next time!!!

We found and booked the hotel through ***********. The hotel is like a hidden gem in the local mountains. Great breakfast and dinner. Good outdoor pool. We got a room in the roof structure without an air conditioner, so it was not very pleasant to stay there when it was +30 outside during the day. At night, you could sleep by opening all the windows. Rather weak wi-fi internet and no mobile communication zone, but maybe you don't need it either?

This is a converted former monastic settlement tucked away inside a dense serene forest location 3 Kms from its nearest neighbour and some 14 Kms from the city of Santiago. Blessed with fine weather and blissful calm the main sounds of the day are the buzz of insect life, the rustle of trees and the rippling pool and fountains. The place is a small hive of walkways and buildings dedicated to various uses from accommodation to lounges and dining. There are multiple coves and groves to find your own quite space and in any case there are only 13 bed rooms throughout the complex so it's never too busy. The landlords keep a soulful cat and two gorgeous sweet and friendly dogs. The rooms and common areas are delightfully decorated with old and antique furnishings, the beds we had in a room over an orchard were excellent for a comfy sleep crisp sheets, fluffy big towels, strong shower water in a really good sized bathroom and lovely rituals soaps. The breakfast is an array of delious cured meats, cereals, fruits, juices, copious hot coffee, and truly sublime moist and tasty cakes and pastries...in fact the breakfast offering is really a great surprise. You can also dine at 9.30 at night with a fixed menu based on available ingredients. We dined both night chose excellent wines from a short but sufficient wine list. The food offerings including langostine salad and a saffron infused mussel soup, mains of fresh cod with a potato fondant and entrecot of slow roast beef on a jus of redberry fruits with forest shrooms were wonderful meals to enjoy each day after touring the coastal villages. Honestly, this place is so charming, peaceful and relaxing I wish I could keep it a secret. Will definitely come back..I'd love to experience it in winter. And there is one other matter..the hotel runs an honesty bar policy. If you take a drink, you just record it in a book and pay when you settle the full bill. This approach tells you something about the culture of this place... valuable and really special. And it is also worth acknowledging the fact that the chef maitre gives individual attention t the guests while Vicente and his colleagues provide outstanding professional service. I've read some of the very few negative reviews and I can honestly say these must be from people who can never be pleased...if u venture to this location with an open heart and an appreciation for evidence of hard work and passion, this place simply cannot disappoint. A treasure.

Absolutely lovely country retreat 25 minutes away from Santiago. Set on a large estate in beautiful rolling countryside, we had 3 nights and ate dinner on 2 of them. The food is lovely, and great value at €25 each, for three courses, fixed menu but both nights it was excellent. Breakfast also substantial and delicious. Stayed in a superior room - quiet and spacious with great views from the balcony. Pool was very quiet and we were lucky to able to use it during some warm sunny afternoons. Lots of other areas including honesty bar with pool table and various lounges with antiques and books. Staff are friendly and helpful. Great place to stay, we plan to return.

I stayed at this hotel during a business trip. The hotel is about 25 kilometers outside of Santiago and not 11 kilometers as advertised. The location is ideal for nature lovers but under no circumstances should you go if you do not have your own means of transport, because there is no local transport but taxi which is expensive. The staff was friendly and helpful, the breakfast was decent enough and the hotel decor was nice. As far as the cleanliness is concerned, we were not left with the best impression, the drains smelled bad and many colleagues complained that they did not have towels in the rooms and the advertised personal hygiene items and hair dryers. Cell phones due to the location had no signal and the phones in the rooms did not work so that we could be served. Finally, the only dinner we had at the hotel did not correspond in quality and quantity to the exorbitant price we paid. Ιn conclusion, I think it does not deserve the rating it has online. I wonder how it has such good reviews.

I needed to rest and recoup. Casa Grande do Bachao was perfect. Bogonia and Javier were perfect hosts and the quiet countryside was wonderful. The meals are 5 star and a reason to book alone! I can’t say enough about how kind and generous my hosts were to me. It was a perfect place to retreat to after my Camino.

We absolutely loved everything about this hotel. There are a few things which might not appeal to others which I have written about at the end, but for us-perfect. The buildings are stunning; beautifully decorated with original features maintained. There are a number of communal areas to sit in, plus the honesty bar/pool room which we made great use of. The views are beautiful and it is exceptionally peaceful. We swam in the pool every morning before Breakfast-chilly in late September but a great start to the day, and on a hot day, very refreshing. The food is delicious and plentiful, breakfast is self-serve, plenty of cold meats, tortilla, breads, pastries, strong coffee and fresh orange juice. Dinner is a set meal of 3 courses, with wine, water, coffee, liqueur all included, and the food was amazing, as others have said. Our room was in the building by the pool, with a balcony and it is huge and again, beautifully furnished. The owners are very helpful and clearly set themselves very high standards and it shows. All staff were professional and friendly. Things to be aware of: our first night was in the main building, and this was noisy (you can hear people talking, creaking floorboards...) so try for the separate block if this bothers you. Dinner is late-9.30pm start, and there is no choice. Xavier alternates between fish and meat; if you are a fussy eater this might not suit you. We prefer to eat earlier ourselves, but were happy to adapt to the culture-especially for such good food. We would not hesitate to go back.

We stayed at Casa Grande do Bachao for two nights in the beginning of our Easter vacation 2022. It was our first trip to Santiago, and we were unsure whether to stay centrally in the city or in the countryside. After our visit to Casa Grande do Bachao I can say that staying in the countryside was absolutely the right choice! This place is full of charme, lovely and friendly hosts, an amazing staff, and not least very good and comfortable accommodation. We were upgraded to a larger room which had carefully selected interior and a stunning view over the hills (including sunset from the balcony!). We loved the tranquility of the location. What more to ask for. The breakfast was delicious and the service made us feel appreciated. On the second night we opted to have dinner on site, and we were served a fantastic three course dinner with carefully selected local ingredients, and amazing local wines. The price / quality ratio is very good. We hope to be able to return again in the future!
