Vila Gale Sintra

Very quite and nice place, hotel has 4-5 swimming pools and children’s playground very good for family, only the location is not in the central of sintra and difficult to find.

This hotel was typical four star family hotel, not five. Food was awful. I would not recommend unless you seek for four star hotel.

We had an apartment which was really lovely. The only issue is you have to ask for pots and pans. Limited kettles available. There is limited cooking facilities. However the apartment is lovely. No iron is given, they say it’s for H&S reasons. I found this ridiculous as you can take your own iron! They just do not want to give you an iron so you use their laundry service. Cleaning : the cleaners do a minimum clean. Not really 5* standard. Restaurant: poor selection and unhappy employees who are not welcoming Spa: amazing massage Pools: really great

First, they are green which I appreciate. However they take it too far. You get only 2 towels, no wash clothes, no hand towels. Also the lobby is NOT air conditioned. It’s probably around 86 degrees at all times. It’s incredible. The room AC is also capped at 76. The beds are 2 mini beds pushed together. Annoying. The bar is the worst. If you have 40 minutes to get something that is not what you asked for, you will love it. Otherwise it’s SLOW and inconsistent. Severely annoying. It’s too far from the city as well. There are 3 pools, none of which is an adult pool only. Also, with only 1 party in front of me, it literally took 35 minutes to check in. Sooooo absurd. It was ground breaking how slow and obnoxious it was. The spa is garbage. I had a massage that is the worst and a complete waste of time. Seriously a total waste of my time. If they wanted to improve: cool down the lobby, get a real full size or Queen bed as an option, make an adult pool, get bar tenders that are useful, figure out how to check people in, get some bell hops, find actual spa workers, and stock 2 towels per person, 2 wash rags, and 2 hand towels. Also, maybe offer shampoo and conditioner.

Me and my husband stayed for one night. This is the BEST hotel I ever stayed in. RECEPTION, lovely check in. A BIG thank you to ROBSON, who were just lovely. As it was my birthday we received complimentary white bottle of wine, two delicious chocolates cakes and fruit. Thank you for making our stay so special. ROOM-standard room it was very spacious with balcony. King size bed so comfy. Towels so soft, Complimentary robes and slippers, Mini bar and complimentary water. TV with a lot of channels, no access to Netflix. SPA, POOLS- amazing 2 outdoor pools, one indoor pool with warmer water, jacuzzi. Loved it, so relaxing. RESTAURANT- breakfast and dinner were buffet, so much choice of delicious food. STAFF- every one was friendly and Thanks to restaurant staff of helping my husband with vegetarian options at the buffet. Hotel design- loved the fresh green design with historic decorations.

I received dirty sandals in room 210 on 8/22. no iron. Way too expensive for the dirtyness

We had a great time during our 5 night stay at the Vila Gale Sintra. I’ll start with the pros of the resort. The property itself is beautiful. The pools, the scenery around the hotel are amazing. The family room layout was great for us. It was essentially what appeared to be what used to be two rooms combined into one. The large balcony was great for sitting out at night. The sunset was spectacular from our room. The kids activities were great as my kids got to enjoy the carousel, playground and trampoline park. Be aware though that they only open these at certain times throughout the day. The breakfast was great and had a ton of selections. There were a few cons, the first was the buffet dinner. It was quite expensive at 29 euros per person and the options werent great. They only really had one meat and one fish that they were cooking and there was a line to wait in if you wanted it. We only ate dinner there the first night. The room was partially refurbished. The carpet looked older and the sliding door within the room kept coming off the tracks. And the bathroom was a little odd in that the vanity was open to the rest of the room. So if someone needed to use the lights for it they would light potentially wake up the person in the room if they were sleeping. Then the WiFi, while it worked well for the most part, kept having to reconnect to the network. This happened on both my phone and iPad several times each day while I was there. The location of the hotel has its pluses and minuses. It is a quiet resort away from the city of Sintra. And it’s also located in a place that makes it easy to get to the beach and Colares. But there isn’t anything else right around the hotel so you need to rent a car or take an Uber to get around. We took and Uber and it did work pretty well. Nothing is within walking distance and the nearest bus stop is a 20-30 minute walk away.
