Distrito 88 - Hotel Boutique Only Adults

The property itself is beautiful and the rooms are elegant and clean. Something about the vibe is off. Upon arrival, nobody was there, and there are no instructions for what to do when you get there. We walked around the property and ran into some guests that told us there is no place to check in, and we needed to find a Lalo. He is very lovely, friendly, and helpful…. But it felt like a deserted hotel in a way. An email prior to arrival would’ve been helpful with information like the Wi-Fi, the gate code, and what to do when you get there in the heat of the day and cannot find anyone to help you. There was nothing welcoming about my arrival. I wish there was some type of a front desk… Maybe some music… a sign… anything. My room was along the lower pool. If you want any natural light in your room, you need to have the curtains open but then anyone in the pool can see directly into your room. There also is not a lot of space to hang out around the pool.

Such a beautiful spot to stay in Sayulita! The sea view is lovely and the distance to the beach and downtown shops is great. Lalo and the team at Distrito 88 are excellent and give great service. The place is kept very clean and has a perfect mix of sun and shade. We highly recommend it as a great adult location!

We had a great experience at this property! Kudos to Lalo the property manager, who went above and beyond in welcoming us and made our stay very special. We booked room 4, with great ocean view. The shower had good water pressure. Bed was a bit on the firm side but my husband loved it. The TV was a bit complicated to figure out. A few stairs more than we expected, but not too bad. Overall it was a pleasant stay and we would recommend it.

Lovely spot. Beautiful views (from our room- Suite 3). Simple but clean and pretty rooms and grounds. Aurora via email was incredibly communicative and helpful. Lalo and all of the women who worked there were all very kind. We loved our room with the private balcony and the shower overlooking the jungle. We didn't get to enjoy any drinks or lunch there because we were out and about a lot but breakfast was wonderful. Beware it is a HIKE (ie uphill) from town and even more so if you’re in one of the upper rooms. So if you’re not moderately fit, head elsewhere. I just wore by bathing suit under everything so I could jump in the pool every time we got back to the hotel. We could use the exercise so not a big deal to us, just something to be aware of when choosing. We liked being away from all the noise at night but it was definitely still close enough to walk to everything. One quick note- the transportation company they work with (Sayulita Luxury Transportation)- HARD PASS. We arranged our transport ahead of time (airport to D88 to another hotel in PV) and we paid ($23USD so not cheap but worth it to have it squared away) ahead of time so no worries. Right? Very wrong. We thought our driver Hugo was great but he ended up scamming us on the second leg. When he picked us back up to head to PV from Sayulita, he said we owed an extra $50. Sorry what? He said our original quote is just round trip to the airport. I said the hotel had communicated a quote directly from his company that did in fact include transport to our second hotel. Then he said, oh it’s because the hotel takes a commission. He insisted we owed more- I even went over the math and it absolutely didn’t add up but I didn’t want to have any dramas so we just paid. I emailed D88 immediately after and they said the shuttle company claimed Hugo had to return to PV (where he’d dropped us off minutes before) to return an iPad we left in the car (which we didn’t have). They also passed along the message: "The manager told me that drivers ask all passengers to check, before dropping off the car, taking off their belongings, to avoid these incidents." Which, by the way, he definitely didn't but it doesn't matter because we didn't leave anything in the car. ;) So when I told them we had clearly been scammed, they said the transportation company would reach out to us and pay us back, which they did reach out but they haven't paid us back. Because they're having problems with their Pay Pal.. Shocking, I know. Obviously I know this isn't the hotel's fault but it was their recommendation so just feel like I should share this part too. Sayulita Luxury Transport obviously doesn't do this to all passengers per the reviews so I'm not sure why it happened to us but it was a big bummer to an otherwise really fun trip to Sayulita.

Booked a trip here with close friends. Nothing like advertised. Manager is always watching and judging your move. Could not have any music or loud noises at the pool at ANY times. Food was amazing though, the ladies are super nice and have some great food and drinks. Rooms are basic, I paid extra for a room with a “private” pool and come to find out that it is available to everyone even though the description states that it is only for this particular room. The Private pool was dirty most of our stay and there was people working and making excessive noise throughout the day.

My boyfriend and I visited Distrito 88 in June 2022 and planned to only stay one night - we ended up extended our stay two separate times, staying for a total of three nights because we enjoyed our time so much. The hotel is 10/10. Modern, clean, trendy, well kept and just gorgeous. There are many options for where you can relax and kick back - the pools, roofs and patios. The rooms are just beautiful - so clean, well-decorated and comfortable. We stayed in rooms #3, #4 and #7 (we kept moving because we rebooked our stays at the last minute!) - all were lovely but I would recommend #3 and #4 - both of which had views of the ocean and were quite large. #3 specifically was stunning - two stories, a sitting area, a large bathroom and amazing shower and its own private patio with the best view of the whole hotel. There are 2 water bottles, 2 beers and 2 keurig pods (+ coffee maker) in each room - plates, cutlery and a mini fridge too. We at and drank at the restaurant and it was great every time. The breakfast was particularly good - we enjoyed the pancakes and the huevos rancheros. The walk into town was quick and safe and beautiful. About a 5-7 minute walk. It’s a little bit hilly but the views from the hotel make it worth it! The hotel location feels safe as well and it’s just far enough out of town that you aren’t burdened by the noise. And the views and scenery are just incredible! The hospitality itself was next level. The restaurant/bar staff and housekeeping were so friendly, kind and great at what they do. We appreciated their service very much. One of best parts of our stay was corresponding with and meeting Lalo, the hotel host. Never in any of our travels have we met someone so helpful, kind, and courteous. He was so quick and responsive and communicative and truly made our stay so easy and seamless. He especially helped us make our transition between rooms so simple and convenient. Any questions we had he was quick to answer. Thank you so much Lalo - you helped make our stay perfect! Thank you Distrito 88 for an incredible stay, can’t wait to recommend you to friends and family and hopefully come back some day soon!

My husband and I had an amazing stay at Distrito 88 hotel. The property is small, charming, and has a youthful vibe. We stayed in suite 4, which had an amazing view of Playa Sayulita. The staff is very friendly (shoutout to Lalo for going out of his way to make our stay memorable), and they made an amazing breakfast and great cocktails. The location is excellent being close enough to easily walk to all the shops and restaurants downtown but high enough on the hill to still be quiet and peaceful. The pools were well-maintained, and there were many spots to lounge comfortably. This is a great place to stay with your significant other or to meet new friends like we did.
