East Ayton Lodge Hotel, Scarborough

On first impression this hotel looks excellent. Plenty of parking, a lovely looking old building inside and out, great service and clean looking BUT............. after staying for 3 nights we were somewhat disappointed by the end of our stay. Firstly we had used and unwashed cups in the bedroom and no biscuits and a basic selection of just tea or coffee. There were cobwebs on the chandelier, dust in the room corners, on the window seat and in the wardrobe. The quilt also had a large coffee stain or something else on it. Also power sockets are poorly placed. Breakfast was a mixed affair. The first morning there was no fruit and we were told they had run out of bread. The cooked breakfast was also cold. Things improved on the following mornings however the tea and coffee were supplied in catering flasks and both were like drinking dishwater with no flavour whatsoever. An evening meal we had was excellent though. The service from the staff was generally good and it's a shame that but for some niggly shortcomings our score could've been 4 or even 5. I'd love to recommend this hotel but certain elements need improvement in our opinion so it's a tough one. If the above are addressed definitely yes but as it stands......I'll leave that decision to you.

Turned up and booked a room. Staff were excellent friendly and welcoming. We we given a room in courtyard and it was extremely clean and homely. Bathroom shower sink toilet were spotless. Totally chilled place and will certainly return. Next time we will have the breakfast and a meal. Fantastic gem of a place near Scarborough 5*facility and excellent value for money

Excellent service and phenomenal food. We tried the new lunch menu today which had lots to choose from. Prices are very reasonable for the quality and portion of food. Drinks were a good price, not too expensive like some hotel bars. Lots of space inside and out to enjoy the lovely surroundings. This is definitely more than a hotel. I would highly recommend you try the bar and grill if you haven’t done so already. Thank you all for this lovely experience

Great place to stay, a short drive from the coast and beautiful Moors. The staff are friendly, particularly Lottie who went out of her way to greet us everyday. Dogs are more than welcome. The food was good and breakfast can be described as small but tasty! You might want to take a sleep mask as the blinds in the annex don’t keep out the light! But overall a peaceful and relaxing retreat, we would stay again

Excellent recent midweek stay our courtyard room was spotless and the restaurant food both for breakfast and dinner was also first class would highly recommend !

My family and I were in Scarborough for a funeral , mostly staying at this hotel. We can never thank the staff and owner enough for making an emotional and sad time , so much easier . Nothing was too much trouble , the rooms were warm and comfortable , the food was lovely , and Matilda just put the cherry on top of the cake !!! Thank you all so much , we hope to be back at some point .

Having had an enjoyable stay three years ago we were looking forward to a night here again. Unfortunately we were disappointed. It was a chilly weekend and we had to ask them to turn the boiler up to activate the radiator on or room. The wifi signal in that room (No9) was very weak and the bath plug was stuck so water drained away extremity slowly. At least we would have a great breakfast, we thought. But… the cooked breakfast was quite meagre: the hash brown was tiny, there only a few (not very hot) mushrooms and half a cooked tomato. Also, they forgot my vegetarian sausages so I had to wait for them. On the plus side, the staff were friendly, the bed was comfy and the location good - not far from Scarborough, Whitby and the North Yorkshire Moors.

My husband and I had a lovely stay at this hotel. The staff are great (Andrea the manager was so helpful) this place is little gem set in the prettiest village. Delicious evening meal & breakfast. We will definitely be returning hopefully with some of our family in September.

Fantastic stay, the food was lovely, great selection of drinks at the bar, our dogs were just as spoilt as we were and loved exploring the gorgeous grounds! Amy, you were fantastic and your customer service deserves recognition, you are first class. Nothing was too much trouble, and you continuously made us laugh! We can’t wait to come again, we booked direct and would definitely recommend as we even got a free meal with our stay! See you all again in October! (Ps Matilda is EXTREMELY cute!!!)
