Loved being in the beautiful historic Bukeyashiku area with lots of samurai houses and gorgeous streets.
I was overwhelmed by the kindness and assistance I received from the hotel staff especially as I was sick during my stay. They met me at the station on the first night as they knew there would be no taxis, took me to buy food, brought me sustenance and fresh fruits !!
Fantastic Japanese breakfasts too and I loved the dark wooden beams and Japanese screens . Very comfortable & spacious rooms- a must stay in Kakanodate.

It’s my second time to stay here. I’m glad that my favorite Machiya Inn is still there after the epidemic.
The comfortable space and floor heating, as well as the delicious food made with local ingredients in the restaurant, are still delicious.
Looking at the snowy scenery from the floor-to-ceiling windows of the room is very romantic.
The hotel provided a ticket to the Kakunodate Hot Spring, but I didn't go to the hot spring bath because I couldn't bear to leave this beautiful and elegant little house.
If I come to Kakunodate again, I will stay here again.

The biggest selling point of this Japanese-style hotel is actually the food and beverage, which is very beautiful and exquisite. My companions said it can match the level of Michelin one star. The hotel itself does not have a hot spring, but it provides free tickets to another free hot spring nearby, which makes up for the regret of not being able to soak in the hot spring. The butler service is excellent. The hotel is a Japanese-style machiya building. The rooms are ordinary but comfortable. The breakfast is very delicious😋 It’s about a 15-minute walk to the samurai house. Free hot spring coupons are provided, which is considerate❤️
