I had great time staying here for the first night and then I booked another two nights. It is just right in the old town near North gate and it it quite easy to find on the map. If you wanna eat, it is better just to walk out of old town and there are so many restaurants around. People in the hostel are very friendly and helpful as I ask them about hiking and booking tours. I recommend this place for everyone who comes to visit Shangri-la

Dirty. Nobody has cleaned in years. The bathroom is totally unacceptable. The public toilets of the city are in much better conditions than this bathroom, besides there is no women/men different toilet. The shower is a disaster. The common area is dirty, food leftovers and empty bottles. The bed was smelly. I had to leave. Only good thing is the location and the price, but the hygiene conditions are very poor.

Really lovely stay, it's about what you expect from a youth hostel. Safe and warm with bed heaters which is nice in Shangrila!

I like staying in hostels and have a pretty large tolerance for semi-clean places, however, this hostel seemed like it hadn't been cleaned since it opened. The potential charm was lost due to the lack of concern of tidiness. Also the people there at the time, were night owls and after a day of traveling I'm in bed early so it just wasn't a good fit for me.

This place has a lot of potential but would be much better if it was cleaner. Then again, it is less than 20 kuai a night, so it’s kind of hard to complain. Definitely a good option if you’re on a budget.

I stayed for one night, so I had to bring my own shower gel and shampoo. The B&B didn't provide them, but the toilet was very dirty. I hope the B&B owner would pay attention. Everything else was fine, and the electric blanket was warm enough to keep me awake until dawn.
