We booked through Secret Escapes. It was sold as a rural retreat on their site which is true and it didn't profess to suggest it was luxurious. Which is just as well because it may have been in its hey day but certainly it is a sad shadow of its former self. Tired and well worn with an air that no one seems to care about the place. On the surface it looks lovely but you don't have to look too hard to find that this is a veneer. Our superior king room was lovely and spacious however the air conditioning didn't work and the whole hotel is very warm. We resorted to leaving the balcony door open at night so that we could sleep. We noted other guests did the same. As for the breakfast...very basic selection and exceptionally low value. Welcomed by a fellow who obviously didn't care. You had to find your own cutlery. The cheapest instant coffee despite there being a proper coffee machine close by. Cheap bread, condiments, orange juice and sausages. There was no-one else having breakfast on our first morning and I hate to think how long ago the warm breakfast items had been cooked. You would think that it would make more sense to cook to order...it would take very little to make the breakfast a better experience. But it seems no one cares.

Paul was lovely on the phone. We stayed 15/16th June. No air con working in room therefore it was very hotStaff on arrival and before, very helpful. Restaurant had no atmosphere, staff had no training it seemed and definitely not attentive. Restaurant was pretty empty but food took ages to come. Starter came with main. Very kind to do spaghetti bolognese without onion, but there was barely any meat, just spaghetti in tomato sauce for £16.50!! RIP off. Fish and chips was nice. At Breakfast no one spoke, it was like a morgue! assumed self service. Floor by food very sticky. Paid cash for the breakfast but wasn’t taken off bill at the end. Lady at check out was not very apologetic, as if she didn’t believe us. It seems like there were one or two experienced staff, all the rest seem to have no experience in their field. Lovely setting, good size room just a shame the service let it down especially when we paid a lot of money for a well needed break

We stayed in the lodges available at the hotel and they were like mini mansions with jet baths and separate shower room and a sauna. The lodge had 3 bedrooms each with its own bathroom and toilets. It’s a brilliant place we went in mid June and was nice and quite not crowded (perfect). The staff were very friendly and help every way that could and the Bar staff were kind. The resort was in a perfect area for all attractions. The four nights we stay here was worth every penny and would recommend to anyone. The only down fall to say about the resort was the 4 mile single track roads to get to it that had hedge row either side of the roads with no clearance to see what’s coming which made bends fun!

Definitely not a luxury resort. Room very hot and no air conditioning. Decided to eat in the restaurant on our first night. Big mistake staff not really capable and not knowing the menu. Asked for Cesar salad with chicken came without the chicken. Bar staff did not have clue about serving drinks. Breakfast terrible almost raw sausages and the hash browns just about edible. Finally checked out only to be told what I owe for extras then having to ask for a breakdown and not given a paper copy just read from computer screen. Would definitely not stay there again.

We booked at the last moment for Thursday 23 May to avoid travelling, for a long-booked weekend in Newquay, on the Bank Holiday Friday. We arrived around half past three. It took a little time to check in because, initially, they could not find the booking. Once checked in we asked where the bar/restaurant was so we could have a drink while reading the newspaper. We were told where it was but also that it didn’t open until five thirty. There was nothing to indicate this on the website. Fortunately, the package we had booked included a bottle of prosecco on arrival so we sat in the bar and eked it out for nearly two hours. We had booked a table in the restaurant for six o’clock so when the time came, we went to the completely empty restaurant and asked the female staff member who was in there where we should sit. She indicated anywhere. We chose a table near the window. She then came over and picked up a table paddle bearing the number 1 (the only one of the dozen tables to have one) and said that this table was for room 1. She went away and checked and came back to tell us it was ok to stay on that table. She brought us a menu each (on a clipboard) – we had to point out it was the breakfast menu. She didn’t believe us and tried for a few minutes to prise apart the solitary page. Eventually, the male staff member brought us one clipboard between us with the dinner menu. We asked for a wine list and he didn’t understand what we were asking for. By this time, we had realised their command of English was fairly minimal. The only way we could get a bottle of wine was to go behind the bar and point it out to them! The female staff member then came to take our order. She did not understand anything and we were sure that we wouldn’t get what we had ordered. Sure enough, having taken our order into the kitchen, the male staff member came back out and asked what sauce I wanted with my chicken breast. I pointed out that I hadn’t ordered chicken breast; I had ordered a half of herby roast chicken. I had tried to look at the menu on the website before travelling but there wasn’t one to be found. If you search for it, the search produces “Join us at Hustyns Resort Cornwall and immerse yourself in the flavours of Porthilly Shellfish as we celebrate the marriage between nature's bounty and culinary”. Try finding mussels on this very basic menu! The starters were OK although the side salad was fairly rudimentary. Between courses, the cutlery was not replenished. When the main meal came, my chicken was (a) not herby (b) the skin was flaccid and white so it seems highly unlikely this had been roasted (c) had clearly been warmed up and (d) was so dry it was unbelievable. I left the entire meal. At least our meal was not as bad as the only other table that was taken while we were in the restaurant. One of the ladies had ordered a vegan option and was served the meat option.

On arrival the heating and hot water did not work. We had two under 2’s with us so not ideal. There is no reception in the lodge for phones so had to go to reception in the hotel to report issues. There are numerous different telephone numbers to try. The next day when I had signal I tried again. This time someone got back to me after leaving a message. She said they will send someone to sort it out. She called me back an hour later saying that something had tripped the heating/water and it was now working. On arriving back to the lodge in the evening it had tripped again. We had to reset the boiler every 30 minutes during our stay. Some of our party took to showering in the pool showers in the hotel to ensure they had hot water throughout the shower. The downstairs double shower leaks like crazy from on of the shower heads. The upstairs bathroom toilet was covered in feaces on the outside of the toilet going down to the floor. The glasses and cutlery were very dirty and there was a large greasy cobweb hanging off one of the kitchen doors. Photo attached. This is our third and final stay at Jasmine Lodge. Will defo not be back!

Amazing service.. Having booked and losing my father a few days before travel. I can not recommend the staff for their caring empathic approach throughout. The whole experience was amazing. The location is good, the facilities look amazing and clean

I had a lovely stay with my family at lodge 21. The staff on reception during my stay were lovely. Spa facilities were fantastic. My only qualm were that spa treatments ( massage etc) were not running but my whole stay was fantastic and idyllic. Would visit again. 5/5
