It's very convenient and affordable to buy a Nea Tripe, cheaper than at the machine. And most importantly, it comes with a seat. We went to the green machine at the central entrance to Kyoto Station and exchanged our QR code for a paper ticket, then inserted the ticket and reserved a seat. It was a bit confusing at first, but we figured it out.

You need to print the ticket itself using a QR code. If there's no station staff nearby, you'll have to complete a small quest. Not all machines are suitable for printing.

I bought the tickets a little cheaper on Trip.com and exchanged them for paper tickets at the station to board the train. There is someone there to assist you, so you can ask if you are unsure about anything. It might seem difficult, but it wasn't hard at all once I actually did it. If I go to Kyoto again, I will definitely buy my Haruka train tickets from Trip.com again.

It’s cheaper than buying on the spot. After picking up your tickets at the green vending machine across from the ticket office at the airport, the entrance is right there. There is a staff member at the turnstiles to help you. Non-reserved seats are located at the end of the carriage, where you can conveniently place your luggage. Stops at Osaka and Shin-Osaka stations are very short; be ready to get off in advance, especially if you have suitcases. If you accidentally miss your stop, you can take the same express train back from the very same platform in half an hour. Just inform the conductor during the ticket check, and you’ll be able to exit through the gates at your intended station using your original ticket without any issues.

Buying tickets here is much cheaper than buying them on-site. You can buy them online first, then exchange them at the green machine, insert your ticket card and select your seat. It's quite convenient. I met some Taiwanese people working at Kyoto Station who were very helpful in operating the machine. It's really quite simple. The machine has Chinese language support, which is convenient and cheap, saving me some money!

After passing through the ticket barrier, passengers should pay attention to the timetable display to confirm their departure time, destination, and platform number.
