Friendly service at reception. Comfortable room. Nice waterside location convenient for, but outside the centre, of Bedford.

Location and surrounding felt safe. As I was only staying for 1 night and had been invited to breakfast the following morning, elsewhere, I didn’t have the need to take up the offer of that facility. Maybe next time, as I was impressed with the hotel and their friendly staff, on the whole. The room was clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. I have no negative comments to make.

Been there with friends for drinks. Very nice experience at this fine place. Friendly staff & great service. Love the location at the edge of river which gives you beautiful views specially when you sit out in beer garden. Going back soon for dinner

Having had a disastrous stay at the Kingfisher 12 months earlier we ended up being invited to sundowners followed by an evening meal. Reluctant to go, we thought we'd give it another go in the hope that the first experience was a one off. The food and the service from the General Manager down has not changed. The food is average at best and the service skills are atrocious. Every aspect of hospitality is lacking, from communication to handling your drinks glasses. It is evident that training is not on their agenda and the most basic hospitality standards are not met. Definitely won't be going back following this second visit.

We went out for dinner at the kingfisher, first time there. The decor and the general layout is really nice. The staff were friendly, and the food was delicious. The beer on tap was also great, really pleased overall. Couple of things that were not so good. We were sat by a window that was decorated in squashed (dead) flies. Staff could really do with cleaning that off, it’s not very nice to look at when you’re eating your dinner. There were, generally speaking, loads of flies. Which was quite vexing. Admittedly there isn’t much the restaurant can do to tackle that. But any sort of measure that could reduce the fly population in the restaurant would be appreciated for sure. The restaurant was also very busy in the evening. Service became slow. No fault of the staff, they were running around. More staff required I think, more hands on deck.

Perfect location and a perfect stay . Our room was beautiful, super king bed , huge walk in shower, 50 inch flat screen TV and our room overlooked the river. Food and drink excellent and good prices , breakfast excellent and all of the staff except one were very friendly and helpful. We asked whether we could eat breakfast on the river side patio and the restaurant manager said No and walked off. Everything else was perfect and we will be back

Just had a lovely stay at the Kingfisher. We were on a much-anticipated trip to visit the original hometowns of my husband's ancestors in Bedfordshire. All the staff at the Kingfisher were friendly and helpful. Loved the full English Breakfasts, best poached eggs I've ever eaten! We would definitely recommend anyone to book the Kingfisher.

From booking this overnight stay to checking out, I could not fault my experience at The Kingfisher. I changed my dinner booking several times & could not have dealt with on each occasion, better. We had our 2 medium sized dogs with us and our allocated room was large enough to accommodate all of us comfortably. Bowls , treats and bedding were all supplied (the bed was rather small, but one of ours still managed to curl up and get in it!!) Both room & bathroom were very clean and furnished well for a longer stay. Bed was very comfortable, and there were plenty of towels provided in the bathroom. We dined with 2 friends in the evening & the food was very good. We were well catered for and the staff were very friendly. Steak cooked perfectly, burgers were very tasty. Bistro style menu & pizzas, with vegetarian & GF options, which should cater for most peoples tastes. Breakfast the following morning was buffet style, all local fresh produce & didn't feel like it had been sitting there for long periods of time. Staff very helpful. And any request was catered for. Will definitely return as felt good value for an overnight D,B&B stay with 2 dogs in tow.
