The bed and pillows were the most comfortable part of the stay. The coffees that were brought every morning were the best way to start the day. The shower, bath tub and all amenities were immaculate condition and the hot shower was amazing after the windy and rain filled day. The breakfast was ultra luxurious and it made everything all the more worth it.

This small hotel tucked in Stone Town was a wonderful surprise! It has been newly renovated with very comfortable rooms and nice amenities. We stayed at room 3 which had a side window, but there seem to be a couple of rooms that might had views to a back garden. Their staff was friendly and very charming. We chose to have dinner one night at their rooftop restaurant, and the ambiance was perfect and the food absolutely delicious! If you are looking for an authentic experience, you can’t go wrong staying at this jewel of Stone Town!

Very welcoming service and nice rooms that exceeded our expectations. The rooftop dining for dinner was a special treat with a nice selection and excellent quality. A fine choice if you want to stay in Stone Town and have an authentic Zanzibar experience.

Gorgeous place, obviously coffee fans, new, clean, fresh, and definately don't forget to try their menu! Delicious food, lovely staff, comfortable beds. I wish I could get the recipe for their crunchy chili sauce and truffled honey butter - they were *divine*.

I like the unique blend of traditional and contemporary design which takes you back in time yet in the present. The staff are also so friendly and warm.

We came upon this hotel as our reservation at the Hyatt was cancelled on us. We got lucky! We loved this hotel! The space was modem, brand new and fresh, the staff was so friendly, and the food was off the hook delicious! Chef Jay has put together a menu for all with a lot of love and respect for the local food. Every meal was not only beautiful but delicious. This is the place!

Had high hopes for this restaurant, as we had friends visiting and thought it would be a special meal. Roof top and a cool view. There was only one red meat option on the menu and they were out of it. So we picked second options and the fried chicken was good, the lobster and shrimp had odd, pasty textures. Presentation was beautiful, but lacked real substance to it. Drinks were too sweet.

We arrived at The Neela somewhat unexpectedly after our booked hotel lost our reservation. They arranged for us to stay at The Neela instead and we could not have been more pleased. The staff were absolutely wonderful--warm, friendly and helpful. The front desk manager took care of us while the room was made up and the restaurant staff provided cool drinks. The room, on the top floor, was spacious and well appointed; it was a bit ironic to have such an old (but beautifully restored) building with state of the art electronic controls for the lights, TV, AC and so on. Breakfast in the restaurant was a real treat. The croissants were fresh and well made and the entrees were hot, spicy, and enjoyable. We had to wait in the lobby area after checkout for our transport to the airport and when this happened, the attendant who had been so good to us in the restaurant cheerfully helped us wheel luggage over to the waiting car. All in all, this was one of the best outcomes for a travel glitch we have every experienced and we would certainly return to The Neela and recommend it heartily.

I stayed at this hotel on the advice of my travel agent for 3 nights after a very demanding climb of Mount Kilimanjaro. I was not disappointed! The hotel is beautifully designed and my room truly luxurious. The staff were consistently delightful and helpful, including their assistance in helping me to book private tours of all of the sights of interest to me. An added bonus: "Breadfruit Restaurant & Cafe" within the hotel is highly rated and deservedly so! Breakfast each morning was delicious, as were dinner and cocktails on the hotels lovely rooftop. Neela Boutique is in the heart of Stone Town but tucked away on a quite side street. A wonderful choice in Zanzibar!
