This resort was much praised on various “travelling in Norway” social media groups and it’s easy to see why. The location is stunning, with breathtaking views across the water to the mountains and glacier. It’s popular and busy but never at the expense of peace or privacy; even though the campsite straddles a road, most of the time the only thing you can hear is birdsong and a waterfall on the far side of the valley. It is very good value. The cottages and apartments have good kitchens and the wider site has everything you could possibly need; a swimming beach, boats to rent, cooking, eating, dishwashing and laundry facilities. There’s lots of interesting things to see in the immediate area. This area was the first busier part of Norway that we encountered on our travels, and our arrival in the nearby town was met with the sight of two huge cruise ships and thousands of tourists. Sande camping is a ten minute drive from all of that but feels like another universe.
