Residence Inn Stockton

Off of Interstate 5, this hotel is just 4 miles from downtown. Its location is beautiful, and just one mile down a tree-lined street to the marina and a jogging path along the water. There is a beautiful enclosed courtyard where one can have coffee or just enjoy the outdoors. The front desk staff is friendly and really aims to please. Housekeeping was everyday (so nice) even though the website says every other day. I wanted to give this place a 5-star review, but the breakfast person after the first two days was not warm and and helpful. The first two days, we had a wonderful, cheery lady that came over from the Courtyard next door. She made you feel welcomed, and I wanted to come to breakfast. She went out of her way to make sure we had everything we wanted or needed. She took pride in her work and presentation (oranges and ice in the water carafe), lots of fresh fruit salad - all the way to the end of breakfast. And, the breakfast area was spotless and inviting. Saturday, this lady had left and the "normal" person did breakfast. She was grumpy and unsmiling. We asked for fruit salad for two days, and she said there was none - even though we could see melons sitting on the counter. She brought out a big plastic bowl full of scrambled eggs and just scooped them to refill the nice silver dish. I mean, sure, we know the eggs aren't fried fresh, but how difficult would it be to bring a silver serving dish out already filled up and replace it with the empty one. The water carafe was just that - no ice and no sliced fruit. I asked her how she was doing, being friendly, and she said "I'll be better in an hour when I'm off." And, management came to talk to her and she raised her voice and started griping. Management nicely reminded her that guests were around, and she lowered her voice." No matter, this person needs an attitude adjus**ent. The best person to train her would be the wonderful lady from the Courtyard restaurant, who was an absolute joy.

I really like this hotel - I've been here several times -- the two people who checked us in, both DeeDee and Lizette, were wonderful - friendly, helpful and efficient! We had a one bedroom and had plenty of space to enjoy -- the only downside is that the air conditioning/heating system was pretty loud where we were located -- we turned our unit off at night so we didn't have to hear it but because we were on the second floor, we had to listen to the noise from the unit on top of us -- that was the only downside for us - the parking was really close to our room, the breakfast totally acceptable --

This might be one of most expensive hotels in Stockton. However, it's main advantage is that it's tucked into a quiet dead end street about one block from busy March Lane. So it's quiet but only a 5-10 min drive from shopping, fast food, decent restaurants, etc. Rooms are comfortable but not luxurious. Breakfast is B level. Nothing to complain about or rave about. Parking is free and plentiful

Front desk and housekeeping staff were very nice. Breakfast was great. Fitness Center was great.

I stay at this hotel for two weeks every year visiting the branch I oversee in Stockton. I travel an approximate 110 days in a given year and I always feel at home here. Its all because of the verry friendly, attentive, hospitable and professional staff this hotel has. They are by far the best a hotel could have.

Check-in was less than welcoming — do you have a reservation, what's your name, where's your ID, here's your key. Heck, start with "welcome to the Residence Inn" so I don't feel like I'm inconveniencing you by walking into your lobby. There was no bedding for the pull-out sofa and the kitchen looked fine — at first. I was tying my shoes and looked across the room only to see eggshells under the counter with a thick layer of dirt. Gross. With all the Marriott post-COVID "we're super-clean" messaging, it's more than a little disconcerting. I'll be traveling to Stockton a lot over the next few years, so I guess I'll find somewhere else to stay despite my BONVOY membership.

The cockroaches by the pool ruined the stay for us. We played by the pool, but once it got dark there were cockroaches all around our lawn chairs. When management was informed they seemed to have little concern.
