Coimbra is an amazing city to visit. Be forewarned that this facility is up a steep hill on small, one-way, cobbled streets that are a maze around the university and cathedral at the top of the hill. If you miss the turn up the hill, it can take you an additional hour to return to the same location. Parking for the hotel is further up the hill in the parking lot of the new Cathedral. We were not informed about this and walked up the hill to the hotel to ask about parking before we drove up with out bags. We were provided with Cava and cake. The sweet cake doesn't go with the Cava. Our unit was across the road. One enters a narrow door to see a giant jacussi and tiny metal spiral staircase to two rooms. The cold and dark, small lower level smelt of bleach and sweaty feet. Our room was on the next level and quite difficult to enter with suitcases on a human wide spiral staircase. The Madam Bovary Boudoire and bed takes up 90% of the space. A small shelf at the foot of the bed makes it difficult to pass. The shower and toilet are crammed together and require odd maneuvers to use either one. The secondary pillows and bed cover didn't appear to be clean. The toilet and shower were mouldy. I would not recommend staying here.
