We arrived here for a little break from Manchester, the place is stunning, remote and amazing views and grounds. Inside the staff are polite, welcoming and make you feel at home. Rooms are excellent and the food is top notch. I had the sirloin and it was easily the tastiest steak I've tried, plenty of little extras for free while we waited for food like fresh bread, and tasters. The chef here is great, service great, bar service great. Just couldn't fault a thing. Thank you and we will be back

We recently returned to Eshott Hall for the fifth time as part of our honeymoon, only to find a noticeable decline in the hotel's overall condition. The original room in the Stables, a familiar choice for us, was dishearteningly thick with dust, featured hairs in the bath, stains on chairs, and dirty carpets. The subsequent room in the main house wasn't any better, with dust, curly hairs in the sink and bath, dusty bed frames, lumpy mattresses, and more dirty carpets. It's evident that maintenance has been neglected over the past 18 months, both in the rooms and throughout the hotel's internal and external spaces. There was a lack of apology initially, but we hope to hear from the General Manager soon. Regrettably, this experience has led us to decide against returning to Eshott Hall. It's disappointing to witness a decline in quality and pride in a place we once held in high regard. On a positive note, we were able to secure a last-minute booking at Matfen Hall, saving our honeymoon from further disappointment.

A lovely hotel located in pleasant grounds with all the facilities that you could need. Service, food and accommodation was excellent, Staff were very friendly. An ideal country house hotel to escape the pressures of modern living.

Wow, from the moment you walk into reception. Greeted by a very friendly lady and showed to our rooms. The room was beautiful, one of the loveliest rooms I’ve ever stayed in. Top marks to housekeeping too. We dinned in the restaurant, great food and very nice staff. Wish we had stayed longer. This is a little gem and we will definitely be back. We booked direct

Beautiful hotel, small and charming with peaceful gardens and warm, welcoming staff. We stayed in ‘Seabiscuit’ in the old stables and it was great value, warm and cost with a comfortable bed and huge bathroom. Though the zany decor of the room wasn’t to our taste or at all in keeping with the traditional style of the place, it was fine. The bar — and the drawing room in particular —- are beautiful rooms in the main hotel. We will definitely return and highly recommend.

This was a very disappointing afternoon tea. We have been here several times over the years and have always been pleased however today was poor by comparison. It did not resemble the pictures on the website and it was quite dry, especially the scones and cakes, there was no icing at all on the cakes as shown in the pictures. So poor that we didn’t even bother to take what was left home, a first for us! Quite expensive and definitely not value for money.

A real gem of a place with very friendly staff, easy to get to yet feels miles away from anywhere. The food was excellent. A real standout property. Very close to Alnwick - Alnwick gardens and Barter Books are well worth the visit.

Delightful old mansion and quaint hamlet set in woodland just 5 mins off the A1. Close to Alnwick and the beautiful coastline. Stayed for 3 nights within a shared cottage 2 mins walk from the main building. The room was very nice but on the small side and lacked the comfort of armchairs to relax. Housekeeping not completed one of the days and very late in the afternoon on another as we were returning to ready for dinner. The inclusive breakfast was excellent in terms of choices and quality. We dined in the hall one evening and the meal too was very good but we were charged for a full bottle of wine rather than the two glasses taken. We also had a complimentary cream tea [ not afternoon tea ] we too was very nice! Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would return again, preferably in one of the main house rooms.
