Unfortunately, my stay at remm Akihabara was disappointing, mainly because of the cleanliness.
My biggest concern was the condition of the rooms. The carpet appeared to be vacuumed only in the visible areas — when I looked under the bed, it was extremely dirty and clearly had not been cleaned properly for a long time. Even worse, when I checked under the sheet, the mattress protector had what appeared to be a dried blood stain as well as yellow discoloration.
The staff changed my room after I reported the problem, and the second one was better, which I appreciated. However, even there the overall standard of vacuuming did not seem particularly thorough.
Another important point is the temperature. Rooms on one side of the hotel become unbelievably hot in the afternoon, to the point where I found it very uncomfortable to stay in the room. The room I was moved to, on the opposite side facing the shopping centre, was much more comfortable. If possible, I would strongly recommend requesting a room with the white door, facing the shopping centre.
The rooms are extremely small, even by Tokyo standards. With one normal-sized suitcase open, almost all of the available floor space disappears. It becomes difficult simply to move around the room.
The massage chair is probably the nicest feature of the room, but realistically you are not going to spend your entire stay sitting in it, and for me it did not compensate for the lack of space and, more importantly, the cleanliness issues.
The location is very convenient, but considering the condition of the room, I would not choose this hotel again.
