Check-in was smooth. I was fortunate to get an upgrade to Executive Level so breakfast was complimentary, and we stayed on the top floor. Thank you, Katherine!! Our room faced north and had a great view of the beautiful mountains. Very nicely decorated room, spacious, very firm bed (my wife liked it better than I did), comfortable settee. Beautiful walk-in shower (no tub). Breakfast buffet was fine but not great (lower-quality bacon, instant eggs vs real, good fresh cut fruit and pastries; they also had potatoes, cold cereal, oatmeal, and more). They did have excellent chicken wings at dinner time at the on-site restaurant. Overall we found the staff to be pleasant, providing good service. It's a fun hotel visually, has glass elevators, and it was a good value, even before the generous upgrade.

We have offered this feedback to corporate and property general management via email with no reply. Sadly, due to the issues that we experienced we probably won't be visiting again. Its a beautiful property but the staff and issues we experienced don't allow us to highly recommend. (+)At check-in my wife had a helpful and excellent experience with Jaime Ortiz. He took the time to help her get our family and our luggage to the room since I had not arrived yet. He is to be commended for his genuine attention and how truly eager he was to help. (-)My wife enjoyed cocktails from the Azul lounge and unfortunately received very aloof service from the female bartender with dark hair and glasses. I also experienced this same level of dissatisfactory service from this particular bartender on a separate occasion on Saturday. (-) Saturday morning our room was covered by black ants. My wife called the front desk and asked that housekeeping or maintenance please come to the room to address the issue. The issue was not taken care of until a few hours later while we were at the pool. (+) Saturday, we spent our breakfast at Azul and Tommy was our server. He was warm, friendly, and very helpful. He made recommendations for entrée selections and interacted with our children in a genuine way. (+) We spent Saturday late morning and early afternoon at the pool and Andrea helped us with our alcohol and food order. She was very sweet and checked on us as she saw us around at the different pools. (+) We booked our 2 children into the Kids Club from 5:50pm-7:50pm on Saturday. Hannah was efficient in the reservation and check in process. Our children detailed that they had fun. (+) We wanted to enjoy some tapas from Contigo while our kids were in the Kids Club but didn’t know how to get there. We went to the front desk and Andrianna actually came around the desk and walked us to the door to ensure we had correct directions. She was the 2nd employee, from Jaime (mentioned earlier) that went above and beyond to help my family. (+) At Contigo our experience was perfection, which we hadn’t experienced at La Paloma up to the point unfortunately. My wife made sure to ask for the manager, Jorge, and share that Erin O and our server Danny V were such great staff members throughout our meal! (-) We returned to our room to see that the ants were still prevalent now having gotten into all of my children’s snacks and a dozen cookies we had delivered to the hotel for our children as a Saturday night surprise. Ants were in my son’s shoes and our carryon bags. It was a mess and my wife had to spend some time on her staycation cleaning our room and hotel furniture, and throwing out so much food! (-) We went to breakfast again at Azul on Sunday morning and Michelle was our server. She forgot to fulfill some of our small requests and our drinks were not refilled in our meal. Super beautiful hotel! Definitely felt clean and sanitizer. My only hang up was 2 of the desk employees seemed to be annoyed. Other then that, I loved it. Right off the 10, super easy to get to.

Let me preface this with the fact that we almost always stay at a Holiday Inn Express when we take a couple day trip. It’s reliable, affordable, and has free breakfast. I arrived at this HIE expecting the same thing. When I checked in, I was informed that there was a possibility of no hot water for showers. I asked when they knew about this issue and they said two days ago. A repair was not going to happen until three days later. In other words, they knew about this and waited to tell me as I checked in which is very shady. I asked for a discount and they said they couldn’t authorize that. At this point, I had just flown 4 1/2 hours and then drove 2 hours and hiked the other part of the day. I had no energy to find another hotel room during spring break so we ended up staying. And as promised, in the morning, there was no hot water for our showers. It’s one thing to have issues like this and let me know in advance. I could have changed my reservation to a different HIE. But waiting till I got there to tell me made me feel trapped. As a side note, one of my favorite things about the HIE express stay is the pancake machine and even that was broken. Breakfast was odd too with no eggs and a variety of other odd offerings. On the good side, they had the best cinnamon rolls I have ever had there and the place was very clean.

I heard a noise scratching in the mattress, that woke me up. I called to the front desk and the lady did come up right away. She heard the noise twice herself. I was moved to a king suite at 11:00 pm. I was checking out at 11:00 am the next morning. I asked the manager for one night of room comp while checking out. He said that I was moved to a king suite. That was only for a couple of hours. I didn't get the full benefits of the suite for several reasons. The nightstand in the bedroom didn't have a table lamp nor a ceiling light. The only light was from the main living room or the bathroom outside of the bedroom. I didn't turn the TV on because I had to get back to sleep to be up on time to pack and checkout. I asked did they find out what it was in the mattress? I was told no. Kind of strange you put the room out of services and found nothing. A staff member heard the same noise, hit the mattress and heard the noise again.

There is an American breakfast, the restaurant is not big, there is no place to sit at the peak, the room space is OK, the curtains can not be opened during the day, because the window is outside the corridor, some people pass by. Not in the urban area, you need to drive to the city, parking is convenient.
