Beach Hotels in Vik

Very comfortable hotel with great facilities, friendly staff, good location, right next to the church in the town, there is a gas station and a small supermarket opposite, hot dogs are delicious!

Everything is good, the room is large and bright, the kitchen has everything you need, the foyer area is used as a transitional space for you to change shoes and store coats, and at the same time separates the bathroom and bedroom areas, a good spatial functional design. The only pity is the weather when we checked in...

Nice hotel property in beautiful little Vik. A very welcoming and pleasant staff greeted us. We chatted with the check in person plus bartender and both were easy to talk to and shared their experience of living in Iceland. The room was reasonably priced, comfortable and just right for our one night in town. The restaurant is situated so diners have a nice Mountain and church view, plus the food was very good. Breakfast buffet was way above average and included in the price. Our only regret was our lack of time we could spend in Vik, so many places, so little time.

The apartment was more spacious than we imagined, more than enough room for 2 adults and 2 children. Very clean and the laundry room was an extra bonus. Location was directly on 1 walking distance to restaurants, grocery store, black sand beach, etc. staff was very helpful even when we had a late check in. I’d highly recommend this place as a stop over between Golden Circle and Glacier Lagoon!

Hotel Katla is located a few miles outside Vik. There is a central building that houses the restaurant and a number of separate buildings with guest rooms. There is an outside hot tub and a small lake. The rooms are good quality and spacious. The breakfast room is large and the breakfast was fine although we often had wait for items that had run out to be topped up. There is plenty of parking on site.

The attitude of the staff is very good, the floor is very comfortable, the room is very clean, the view outside the window is very sunny, there are many restaurants nearby, shopping malls and supermarkets also have petrol stations, the only downside is that you have to go up a staircase

The cabin is a two-suite, the room is big enough, the facilities are good, the wooden house is backed by the cliff, facing the town of Vic, one kilometer away is the black beach. The paid breakfast is richer.

We stayed here as the mid-point stop on our way to Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon. It is true that because it’s one of the larger hotels in the area, it is used by large tour groups, but that did not interfere with our stay at all. It is a roadside hotel, don’t expect any luxuries, but perfect for a one or two night stay. The rooms are very spacious and clean (because it’s a busy hotel, your room may not be ready before check-in time). The restaurant is large and they were able to accommodate us with no problem for dinner, and their breakfast buffet (included in the rate) is fantastic. It also has a great view. The location is great, close to Dyrholaey, Vik and Reynsfjara (black sand beach). Pro-tip: if you have dirty laundry, they will do it for you for about $25 per bag regardless of the size. I thought it was expensive so didn’t do it, and regretted it - everywhere else was either more expensive or didn’t offer the service at all. The staff works so hard - I saw the same person cleaning my room helping out at the restaurant, and everyone was very pleasant.

Guesthouse Carina is an immaculately clean property on a hill, with mountain views on all sides, and a sumptuous breakfast (additional cost) in a glass walled dining area. BUT it is not suitable for seniors or the disabled. There is a flight of stone steps without a handrail to enter the building. Once inside you remove your shoes in the entry hall and wear slippers. The communal kitchen and the ONLY shower are on the ”first floor” entry level. Most of the rooms were up another rather steep flight of stairs, meaning we must carry our suitcases up 2 flights and go down one flight to shower. (There were plenty of shared toilets but no sink in the room.) We made it through with the kind help of staff and fellow guests. But as seniors we would not come again.

Great location and beautiful building! Plenty of bathrooms and showers - although at peak times only cool water was available in the shower. The bedrooms were well equipped but way too hot on a sunny day. Be aware that the rooms have no locks and there is no place within the shared rooms to lock up your belongings, although there are lockers in the hallways. The bar has nice but expensive drinks. Surprisingly not social for a hostel with a bar - there were a lot of families and groups seemingly staying.
