"We enjoyed our first stay at Battunga Cottages so much, we took our UK visitors. It was at the end of their travels around Australia, and they rated it the highlight of their whole trip! They were blown away by the serene and beautiful location and generosity of hosts Kerry and Mark – we arrived to fresh homemade bread, bubbles and a range of delicious locally sourced provisions, including for breakfast, which we enjoyed cooking on the BBQ. The traditional cottages are beautifully decorated, cosy, clean and equipped with everything you need for a relaxing stay. It is the perfect base for exploring the Clare Valley – peacefully secluded, surrounded by nature and wildlife, yet only a 2-minute drive into Watervale, and 15 minutes into Clare. We cannot wait to return soon!"

"We really enjoyed our 3 day visit, and can’t say enough about the wait staff, in particular (food and wine weren’t too shabby either), though I can’t quite give The Louise a 5th star as the facility itself is a little dated/worn. Still very pretty, in the midst of beautiful vineyards, with generously sized suites, but the resort will likely need updating before long (starting with the tiny “fitness center” and laundry room near the pool)."

"Amazingly generous host providing an abundance of food for breakfast plus a delightful offering of local cheeses, olives, dip, crackers and wine to enjoy by the fire in our cottage on arrival. I have never come across such generosity in a B&B! The cottage itself was spotless and tastefully decorated with a comfortable bed amidst interesting antiques and artworks. All this in a peaceful location where nature could be appreciated. The sunrise view over the valley from the ridge at the back is Devine."

"We recently stayed at Neagles Retreat Villas, and it exceeded all our expectations. The villas are beautifully appointed, with all the creature comforts you could wish for in a luxury accommodation. The views are simply spectacular and offer a true sense of immersion in the Clare Valley experience. Waking up to misty, foggy mornings that gradually revealed rows of grapevines and rolling hills in the background was magical. We even spotted kangaroos grazing right in front of our villa, adding to the genuine country escape feel. The villa itself was immaculate and thoughtfully designed. The deep bath was perfect for soaking in after a day of exploring local wineries, and the shower pressure and temperature were spot on. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and all the seating areas were cosy and inviting. We ordered the breakfast box, which was fantastic—locally sourced, delicious, and generous in portion size, with a great variety of options. The complimentary wine was a lovely touch that added to the experience. The gas fireplace and ducted heating kept us warm and cosy, making it even more enjoyable. The booking process was seamless, with clear instructions, confirmations, and follow-up texts that were helpful and thorough. Aimee, our host, was exceptional—knowledgeable, friendly, and dedicated. Overall, Neagles Retreat Villas offers a beautiful and relaxing experience. It’s the perfect getaway to unwind, explore the Clare Valley, and enjoy the stunning scenery. "The Louise remains an enchanting and comfortable retreat ideal for couples seeking privacy and vineyard immersion. Its villa-style suites are luxurious, and the setting is picture-perfect. However, it's not for the feint of wallet and while the fundamentals are superb, the experience stops just short of the ultra-luxury benchmark set by the group’s top lodges, particularly when it comes to culinary consistency and meticulous attention to those critical final 1% details for example dining-room windows have a cracking vineyard panorama but could do with a clean. For a relaxing Barossa getaway with style and comfort, The Louise is a strong choice — a few small tweaks would lift it from very good to truly exceptional."
