The hotel is located in a mountainous area with a beautiful environment. The interior of the hotel is beautifully designed. The staff are very attentive and enthusiastic. The room we stayed in this time has hot spring facilities. It was semi-open air and the atmosphere was very good on a rainy day. Will definitely stay again next time.

As it claims to be a Japanese restaurant where you can stay, everything is as you would expect, from the parking lot to the entry, garden, furnishings, bath, and dinner. The open-air bath, which you can enjoy while looking out at the garden from your room, allows you to feel the seasons, and it was nice to be able to stretch my legs out in the private stone bath (I'm about 170cm tall). I was able to relax on a deck chair on the veranda and enjoy a beer after my bath. There was also a cypress bath inside the room, and although it was through a window I could look out at the pond and enjoy the scent of cypress. From the large public bath outside the room I was able to enjoy the song of the nightingales while looking out at the distant mountain ranges. It was also great that I could enter at any time during my stay. Dinner was a Japanese-style banquet, but the combination of ingredients was very new, and I could feel the concept shared by Japanese tradition and ★★★ restaurants in the Basque country. While making the most of the flavors of the ingredients, I enjoyed the ingenuity of the combinations, and enjoyed the different intervals that rose in my mouth one after another. The intervals between serving the dishes were also perfect, with no gaps, and the next dish never came before I had finished my meal. The "tea" served was also excellent. Matcha when filling out the guest register after arrival, sencha when being given a tour of the hotel after arriving, and roasted green tea after dinner - the temperature and strength of the water was all controlled for each type, and the waitresses' skill was excellent. Up to this point, I think you could get an experience on par or better at a star-rated restaurant or hotel, but the breakfast was excellent. It was served on a tray in about nine small bowls, made with carefully selected ingredients that were flawless in every respect. The rice was also excellent, cooked in a rice cooker. A hotel employee had previously told me that "the quality of the breakfast served determines the class of a hotel," and I thought that this was certainly true. Being able to experience all of this in my room made for a happy holiday.

It's been a while since I've been to Yugawara, but I realized once again that it's easier to access than Hakone, especially the Gora area. The old kanji for camellia is written as ``umi pomegranate,'' and there are motifs of sea pomegranate flowers all over the hotel, and there are many types of sea pomegranate trees planted in the garden outside. If you go up the road outside the entrance of the inn, you will find a walking route along the river. It's a bit of a tough slope for people with bad legs, but I imagine it's spectacular during the season of sea pomegranates, autumn leaves, and cherry blossoms. The inn's gardener took care of such a large promenade, so I think it is well maintained. The room was spacious, and the koi pond and open-air bath in the garden were spacious and the temperature was just right. The bed was comfortable and I had a choice of pillows. Perhaps the head chef and I have the same tastes for the morning and evening meals, but overall the soup was light and elegant, and the food was as delicious as I expected. I wanted my American husband to understand how delicious this was. Nakai-san's service was also good. We made rice balls with the leftover rice from dinner. I was able to enjoy the sake tasting and Haggen-Dazs ice cream in the lounge near the public bath, which made me feel good. When I checked out, I forgot to pick up the item I bought at the souvenir shop, so I called to check on it after I got home, and they sent it to me along with a polite letter. Perhaps the head chef and I have the same taste buds, wonderful "dashi" umami, and lightly salted meals of traditional Japanese "Kaiseki" dinner and breakfast were elegant and as delicious as I expected . It was a delighted experience for my American husband to share and understand this delicate taste. Nakai-san's service was also professional. It was very nice of her to have made a rice ball with the leftover rice from dinner. It was a nice extra touch to serve Japanese Sake and Haggen-Dazs ice cream in the lounge next to the grand bath. Sauna was hot and nice as well. When I checked out, I forgot to pick up the items I bought at the souvenir shop, so when I got home I called to check on it, and it was sent to me very next day along with a polite hand written letter. I highly recommend this Ryokan. Thank you very much.

Guest rooms with open-air baths overlook the pond and offer a relaxing atmosphere. Since it is in a location where there is nothing nearby, I think it would be a good idea to just relax and get away from the worldly world. The bed provided is also very comfortable and satisfying. It would have been even better if the waitress had been more confident in serving customers.

We thought that it was very worth it as tourists to go to Yugawara, which is somewhat complicated to get to, the hotel is too old, like it was 100 years ago, I personally didn't like the food, I was expecting something totally different

It goes without saying that the service provided by a long-established inn was excellent. I feel like we are at a critical moment in how we can take oldness for granted and transform it into something better while preserving it. The food was solid and very delicious. I stayed in a room with a bed, and it was very comfortable and I had a good night's sleep. By choosing a room on the first floor of the main building, we were able to enjoy feeding the carp, which was perfect for entertainment. Overall, I honestly think it's a given if you're paying this price, so I give it a fair rating.

It was my first time visiting Yugawara. Although the reviews were mixed, I chose it because it is a long-established store. We chose a room with an open-air bath in the main building. There is a pond in the garden where koi fish swim, camellia flowers bloom, and cormorants sip honey. It was a very relaxing time, but it cannot be denied that the facilities are aging. Even if it is old, if it was originally made well, the flavor will come out. The food was nothing special either. I couldn't say it was cost effective either.
