Tasik Biru Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
BEAUTIFUL
The entrance fee is RM 10. Visitors can try the paddle boat, walk-in on the floating bridge or use the boat. Oh not to forget, can feed the fish (RM 3). Good place to take photos. Very instagram-able 👍
It was a bit crowded on the weekend especially at noon. Better come in the morning because it is too hot at noon and less people. The parking space was enough.
The place has a chalet now, you guys can try it. #kuching #spooktaculartrip
Legendary & Serenity of Blue Lake, Bau
Tasik Biru or Blue Lake is located around 35km from the heart of Kuching. A nice place for family area to gather and recreation.
It is accessible via road connection from Kuching-Bau road. It is also not far from another two attraction of Bau Township – namely the Wind Cave and the Fairy Cave.
Currently, it is open to the public as a tourism hot spot. This spot has been well-equipped with various facilities such as jogging paths, parking lots, shop lots, food stalls, toilets and resting benches.
Due to its calm waters and huge open water body, it is still suitable for water sports such as rafting, kayak, and other water games.
Fees is Rm10 for adult to walk the floating bridge with free 2 drinks per ticket at the cafe or you can pay Rm10 for the boat ride around the lake.

Tasik Biru - Bau, Kuching
Bau, Sarawak is a quaint town located about 36
kilometres from Kuching, and is popular for its
limestone caves and rich history. It used to be a bit of a sleepy town, but with the completion of the Semadang- Skio road, Bau has been welcoming visitors from nearby Serian, Padawan and Penrissen, as well as travellers on their way to border town Serikin.
At the heart of Bau is Task Biru, which is Malay for Blue Lake, named so because of its unnaturally blue colour, which is a result of high levels of arsenic. Tasik Biru is a man-made lake and was originally an open mining pit. Gold mining began there in 1820 by the Hakka Chinese, who named it Tai Parit, which means 'Big Drain' in Hakka. A century later, mining efforts were abandoned when the 91-metre deep pit flooded with water.
One look at the scenic turquoise lake, you'll never guess the bloody history or the poisonous waters that comes with it. Today, Tasik Biru at Bau is open to visitors as well as many water activities such as kayaking, bamboo rafting and even miniature sail boat racing especially during the annual Tasik Biru Festival. However, due to the lake's arsenic content,
thanks to its history of gold mining, visitors are advised not to fish, drink, swim or bath in this man-made lake.

Fun Zipline Activities in Borneo Happy Farm
During the public holiday, we have a chance to experience zipline in Borneo Happy Farm, Kuching. It is one of the best adventure activities there. It cost Rm25 for each ride per pax, and free buggy bus to ride back to the zipline station. It is a great experience, their staff are helpful and friendly. Their safety control also very well maintained. You need to measure your weight before going to the zipline site, then their staff gives suitable weight on your body to control the weight capacity.

Borneo Happy Farm
#malaysiatrip Frankly, I can see that the owners and the staff of this Borneo Happy Farm tries to ensure the knowledge of the flora and fauna is displayed in this Farm. Amazingly, there is information on insects, birds, reptiles, flowers, fruits, fishes and so many more about plants, trees, etc etc being incorporated on its displays. There is also information about Borneo and its history which I couldn't cover as it was indiscreetly set up at the Datuk's House outside the canteen, it could be easily missed. But since it rained heavily and we came later than expected after making a wrong turn, it was also almost the last ride for the shuttle bus too. Staff at all locations are very friendly and well trained. The shuttle bus drivers are very kind and helpful, bringing up and down wheelchair, ensuring elders have ladder to climb up, and very patient. The Guinea Wonderland has many well trained guinea pigs doing their rounds, really fun for even adults, and I must also say young children too. It was good that it is also wheelchair thoughtful, but there seemed to be only 2 for rental by deposit only of 50RM, refunded upon return. Four of us seniors enjoyed much, and I would like to return to know and learn more of the collections of flora and fauna. By the way, the canteen also has information of the tribes in Sarawak and some interesting collections of drums and musical instruments.

Fairy 🧚♀️ Cave
Very beautiful cave to explore!
Fairy Cave (also known as Gua Pari) is an impressive show cave near the former gold mining settlement of Bau and about 40km from Kuching.
The Fairy Cave takes its name from a stalagmite structure at the entrance that is said to resemble a Chinese deity. Inside, you will notice the great contrasts between the light entering the cave and its shadowy darkness, along with hues of brown and grey of the rocks – highlighted by the rich green of the moss – which offer many opportunities for the avid photographer. The rock surface outside the cave is where rock climbers do their ascent of varying difficulties.
Entrance fee as below:-
Foreigner: RM5
Malaysian adult: RM1
Malaysian Senior Citizen (60y.o): FREE

Wind Caves Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Wind Caves
#malaysiatrip Well maintained bat cave with thousands of bats and other birds.
The site was quiet with not a lot of tourists. The paths inside the cave are safe but completely dark. Remember to bring a flashlight or rent one for RM 3 at the ticket office. The best part was listening to the sound of all the bats (harmless) around you. Spent one hour in total.
Took a taxi from Bau Market to here. However, going back was more troublesome. May have to walk a while until a taxi is available.
