If you think you’ve seen all of Guangxi after visiting Guilin or Yangshuo, think again — Mingshi Tianyuan is a hidden paradise waiting to be discovered. It’s only about a 35-minute taxi ride from Detian Waterfalls, and once you arrive, the adventure truly begins. The best way to explore is by renting a scooter and riding freely through the winding roads and peaceful countryside. We rented two scooters for 2.5 hours for just 100 yuan total, which was a great deal. There are several routes to choose from, and some take you all the way to the most remote villages I’ve ever seen — truly off the beaten path. Make sure to stop at a local restaurant to try the roasted pig, which is delicious, and don’t miss out on the fresh passion fruit — it’s amazingly sweet and refreshing. Mingshi Tianyuan offers an authentic rural experience with breathtaking scenery and a calm atmosphere you won’t find in the busier tourist areas.
