Beautiful wood can speak| Shijiazhuang Flower Hall (1487)

| Shijiazhuang Flower Hall (1487). How does ordinary wood become refined? When I came to the ceiling of Dongyang Woodcarving, the first of the four major woodcarvings in China, in Weishan Town, Dongyang City, Jinhua, Zhejiang, I seemed to have an answer. Shijiazhuang Flower Hall was built in the first year of Qing Xuantong, 1909, and was completed in the first year of the Republic of China in 1912. It took six years. But who the real craftsman of the flower hall is, there is no conclusion yet. Some say that the woodcarving was made by Lu Lianshui, a famous Dongyang woodcarver, and some say that the woodcarving was made by Du Yunsong, known as the Emperor of Carving Flowers in Dongyang, leading his apprentices. It is said that at that time, more than 50 carvers participated in the carving of the flower hall, and the carving part alone cost more than 10,000 man-hours, so there is also a saying of "Wangong Hall". In winter, the warm sun in the early morning puts a layer of golden light on the Shijiazhuang Flower Hall, shining brightly. The decoration of the Shijiazhuang Flower Hall is complicated, with a large number of exquisite woodcarvings, using techniques such as through-carving and deep relief, vividly presenting traditional Chinese cultural stories. The gorgeousness and complexity of the woodcarvings are dazzling. It reflects the highest level of Dongyang architectural craftsmanship and woodcarving decoration art in the early Republic of China, and can be called the masterpiece of Dongyang traditional architecture during the Republic of China period. Its historical value and artistic value are immeasurable. On October 7, 2019, Shijiazhuang Flower Hall was announced by the State Council as the eighth batch of national key cultural relics protection units.
