Cook Chai Dimsum (non-halal) Address: 82 Thung Sao Nueng Road, Hat Yai Open daily from 6am to 1pm A hidden oriental breakfast gem place frequented by the locals (non-halal) with Hong Kong style dim sum ala local Thai fusion – it is not as popular as the other more well known Chok Dee dimsum which is strategically located in town, yet in my personal opinion, tastes better with its fresh ingredients, lesser MSG and its bang for the buck. Bustles with life and perpetual queue for table seating, its signature dishes (must try) are Bak Kut Teh, fish maw soup and deep fried Yam cake in gravy, which you have to order from the menu. You will see three section counters of fried Asian pastries (yiu tiao, yam balls, fried beancurd, etc), Chinese buns (BBQ pork, cream lava, etc), and its main highlight being mini plates of wide variety of meat, seafood and dumpling dim sums that you choose and place on a provided tray for the chefs to steam them fresh while you wait on your table to savor them piping hot. They also serve traditional Thai coffee and refillable teas in pot (recommended, go for Chrysanthemum) and half-boiled eggs. All in all, it’s an authentic breakfast experience that will definitely leave you with a satisfied craving.
