The ancient town of Hexia shines brightly under the patronage of Kui Xing, producing many talents

Following the establishment of Huai'an's transportation significance during the Ming and Qing dynasties, its commercial status was also cemented. Wealthy citizens began to value education, adhering to the principle that learning leads to officialdom. With many becoming officials, culture flourished as well. The tallest ancient structure in Hexia is the Kui Xing Pavilion, the most dazzling street view is that of the Zhuangyuan (top scholar) Building, and the tastiest restaurant is called 'Wen Lou' (Literature Building). During the Ming and Qing dynasties, the town produced 67 Jinshi (successful candidates in the highest imperial examinations), 123 Juren (successful candidates in the provincial examinations), and 12 Hanlin (imperial scholars). This ancient city, with a history of over 2,500 years, attracts tourists with its rich cultural heritage and historical sites. The residence of Shen Kun, a Zhuangyuan (top scholar), is located near the Zhuangyuan Bridge at the entrance of Bamboo Alley Street. Today, many children visited, passing through the Official's Building and being lifted onto the Zhuangyuan Horse by their parents, their joy as if they were starting a life on a winning streak. Kui Xing is a deity from ancient Chinese mythology, believed by the people to be the god who presides over literary fortune. The three-story Kui Xing Pavilion on Chenghe Street is not only one of the important attractions of Hexia but also a symbol of the local people's yearning and reverence for knowledge.
