Jeju Island Travelogue

Jeju Island, the largest island in South Korea, is located in the southwestern sea area of South Korea, with an area of 1845 square kilometers and a population of 600,000. The climate on the island is pleasant, making it a famous tourist destination. Jeju City is located on the north coast of the island. In 2007, Jeju Island was designated as a World Natural Heritage Site by UNESCO and is known as the "Hawaii of South Korea". It is said that there were three immortals who met three princesses from the country of Bi Lang in the East China Sea, who came by wooden boat with cattle, horses, and seeds of five grains. The three immortals married the three princesses and established a village, where they lived for a long time. The famous tourist attraction in Jeju Island, "Samseonghyeol," is a historical site related to this myth. It is said that during the Three Kingdoms period, there was an ancient country called "Dangro" in Jeju, which was later renamed "Jeju" during the reign of King Gaozong of Goryeo. Asia's largest Teddy Bear Museum is located on Jeju Island. This museum in Seogwipo City is very large and collects teddy bears of various scenes. Visitors can watch Teddy Bear Puppet Theater performances and the central hall also sells various Teddy Bear peripheral toys. The Teddy Bear Museum includes different types of small bear plush toys from all over the world: Van Gogh bears, astronaut bears, science fiction bears who "died tragically", vegetable-selling bears, outdoor scaffolding giant bears, and so on. There is a feeling of being healed in every display case. In addition to taking photos, the dazzling array of peripheral souvenirs also attracts children. Along the road by the seaside, ride clockwise. The sun is shining and there is a sea breeze. When we reach a spot where we can go into the sea, we park our bikes by the roadside and run down to take photos. The stones by the seaside here are surprisingly black, and there are some small stones piled up with black stones, which are said to be used for sacrifice. When we come across a pavilion to rest, we stop our bikes, take out food from our backpacks to replenish our energy, and sit down to rest. During the ride, we also encounter some island women who go to the sea to catch seafood and seaweed, which they sell after drying them on the shore. Thinking about the time to rent a car and the return boat ticket, we don't stay too long and continue to ride clockwise along the seaside. Although we say "ride", the electric bike only needs a few pedals to start moving, so it doesn't take much effort. The speed is faster in the second half of the journey, and when we encounter downhill roads, we are as happy as flying. If you want to eat, we recommend Baojian Road. The last time we went to Baojian Road was a long time ago. The proportion of Chinese restaurants is really beyond our imagination. Even our entire charter driver is Chinese (graduated from Jeju University, young people from Jiangsu and Zhejiang). Before eating the emperor crab, of course, we took a photo to commemorate it. As for the cheese restaurant, the boss will perform and show you what is the longest and thinnest cheese, which is super interesting. The two representatives of Jeju cuisine, seafood and black pork, rely on the geographical advantage of being surrounded by the sea on three sides. Jeju's seafood is particularly fresh and cheap. There is a street for black pork barbecue in Jian'in-dong, Jeju City, which must be tasted! It is recommended to play for about three days throughout the journey!
