Chimu Mountain

Chimu Mountain is located ten miles southeast of Jingning County, Zhejiang Province, belonging to the Donggong Mountain Range. With an altitude of 1519 meters, it reaches the clouds, is the town's mountain, and can be seen for hundreds of miles. There is also a cliff carving from the Qianlong period (1736—1795), recording the construction of a stone well by Cao Hanwen of Haining, totaling more than 20 words. Next to the well is a stone niche, 3 meters high, 6 meters wide, and 6 meters deep. The pillar is carved with dragons, the forehead is carved with characters, and a seated statue of the fairy Tang Miaoxuan is sculpted in the middle. It is said that when Emperor Gaozong of the Song Dynasty was stationed in Lin'an, there was a lady of the Tang family in the town who 'showed her spirituality, transported wood to the court, and contributed to the country's use. Gaozong was overjoyed and issued a decree to commend her, hence the name Chimu Mountain. There is a stone stele erected in the 29th year of Kangxi (1681) next to the stone niche.
