Quanzhou | Anping Bridge

Anping Bridge was first built in the eighth year of the Shaoxing era of the Southern Song Dynasty (1138), and it was put into use after fourteen years of construction. The bridge is 2,255 meters long, spanning straight across Anhai Bay, connecting Jinjiang and Nan'an. It is the longest existing seaport stone bridge in China and also one of the first batch of national cultural heritage conservation units in China. The bridge piers are built with interlocking granite slabs laid horizontally and vertically, without arches, cables, carvings, or decorations. Just this one straight line, the Anping Bridge across the bay embodies the Song Dynasty's aesthetic of simplicity. The bridge is currently under maintenance, and only half of it can be walked on. Li Lang also held a press conference on it.
