Three Sisters, Blue Mountains

The Three Sisters is an attraction in Katoomba, the heart of the World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains and the gateway to this spectacular natural attraction in NSW, Australia. It is an iconic formation standing proudly in the land of the Gundungurra and Darug People, the traditional custodians of this declared Aboriginal Place. The Three Sisters is best seen from Echo Point lookout, on the edge of the plateau above. These three weathered sandstone peaks, formed thousands of years ago through erosion, are set among the cliffs of the Jamison Valley. The most convenient and hassle free way to get to the Blue Mountains is via train which takes 2 hours from Sydney Central Station. Trains depart Sydney Central Station every half hour until 9am, then every hour afterwards. Once you’re in Katoomba, you can buy the Hop on Hop off Bus from the Tourist Information Centre opposite the Katoomba train station. It takes you to Echo Point and other attractions in the Blue Mountains. A much cheaper option is taking public bus that also goes around the same attractions every half hour between each stops using the Opal travel card. It will take about 3 hours to cover all the attractions in the Blue mountains so it’s best to go early and return to Katoomba for lunch at one of the lovely restaurants or cafes before getting back on the train to Sydney.
