Three ancient towns worth visiting in Yunnan

1⃣ Lijiang Ancient Town, also known as Dayan Town. It is an ancient town with a long history, mainly inhabited by the Naxi ethnic group. The streets in Lijiang Ancient City are built along mountains and waters, paved with red sandstone, and include attractions such as Sifang Street, Mu's Residence, Wufeng Tower, Black Dragon Pool, and Wenchang Palace. The commercialization is quite obvious. 2⃣ Shuhe Ancient Town, also located within Lijiang city area, is a small market town around Lijiang Ancient City with a history of a thousand years. As a part of Lijiang Ancient City, Shuhe Ancient Town has well-preserved ancient paths and markets, nearly a thousand traditional residences, and is mainly inhabited by the Naxi ethnic group. It is one of the earliest settlements of the Naxi ancestors in the Lijiang basin. Residents who did not move away from the ancient city still live here, and the town has a strong sense of daily life, making it the most favored among the three ancient towns. 3⃣ Dali Ancient City, approximately 1000 meters wide from east to west and 2000 meters long from north to south, has three main streets running vertically and five or six alleys horizontally. The houses within the city are mostly earthen and wooden structures with tile roofs, and the streets are mostly paved with bluestone slabs. Most of the streets have streams of clear spring water flowing from Cangshan Mountain.
