The Manila Governor's Palace, the king within the walled city

The Manila Governor's Palace is located beside Plaza Roma in the walled city area, close to the Manila Cathedral, and faces the City Council. Although it's called the Governor's Palace, it is actually just a building constructed on the site of the old palace. The original palace from the Spanish colonial period was destroyed by an earthquake, and the houses built on the site thereafter were repeatedly destroyed as well. The current building was completed in 1976 and serves as the office for the Manila government's department managing the historical and cultural heritage of the walled city. With its imposing and symmetrical exterior, and its red wall stripes, it looks very solemn and dignified. Therefore, whether in terms of its function, its appearance, or its historical background, the current 'Governor's Palace' remains the king of the walled city area. It is important to note that the Governor's Palace is not open to the public and can only be viewed from the outside.
