Around Guangzhou, I found a hidden millennium Yao village, which really surprised me. This Yao village is hidden in the mountains, where time seems to have frozen for a thousand years. The whole village is built on a mountain at an altitude of 808 meters, surrounded by mountains, with a panoramic view of the karst landscape, just like a landscape painting of Guilin.
In the early morning, standing at the high point of the village, watching the sunrise over the sea of clouds, all you can see is a beautiful view of misty scenery. Looking around, the rolling hills and orderly tiled houses are all in sight, making you feel the history and culture of the Yao people. Here, you can experience the real original culture and life of the Yao people and breathe the fresh air of nature.
One of the must-visit attractions is the millennium ebony (stone step platform), the most essence of the scenic area. The ancient village gate is also a very characteristic attraction, it's very photogenic from the stone steps down. Both sides of the main road of the ancient village are ancient houses, and there are many alleys where you can go in and take pictures. At the top is the Panwang Temple. In addition, there are many other attractions in the scenic area, such as bonfire parties, Yao intangible cultural heritage song and dance performances, etc., which can make people feel the enthusiasm and culture of the Yao people.
When taking pictures, around eight in the morning is the time when there are the fewest tourists, which is the best time to take pictures. We watched the beautiful sunset in Linnan Wanshan Chaowang Scenic Spot or most popularly known as Wanshanchaowang Valley / Wanshang King.
Then dropped by in Ginkgo forest to take some photos.
Had dinner in a long table banquet in Yao Nangang Village. After dinner, watched Yao Liannan bonfire dance presentation. Locals and guests sing and dance together around the bonfire. A wonderful experience. This is the second time we visited this place. We stayed in a 3 Star hotel nearby.

Jiulong Town Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Jun)
Fenglin Town ~ Jiulong Town fun trip
Fenglin Town is in Jiulong Town, 60 kilometers southwest of Yingde City, Qingyuan City, Guangdong Province. It's a large-scale comprehensive eco-tourism resort integrating leisure sightseeing, agricultural parks. Kds and adult would love it.
Visit this town and experience the dreamy landscape, the sea of flowers, the mountain peaks, the cave, the lotus lagoon etc.
Entrance Fee is ¥45. One of the best part of this park is the Cave Fairland which is free to go inside. You can enjoy also riding the small train that will go around the the lotus lagoon. Riding the train needs to pay ¥40. The paragliding, hot air balloon and ATV needs to pay. You can rent an electric cart to go around the area.

Jiulong Town | Peaceful & Romantic Getaway
To get here you can take a fast train to Qingyuan then make your way to the Scenic Park. I mentioned in my previous post that it’s possible to spend the entire weekend at this park as there are cute cottages with hot individual hot tubs, gorgeous views and it’s just so peaceful it makes the place perfect for a relaxing getaway.
I’ve heard that during the holidays this place gets extremely packed, I went on a random weekend where it was quite empty so we really got to enjoy the scenery and explore the park at our own pace.
Hotels: there are plenty of interesting cottages on site. Very budget friendly and clean inside. Some are hidden in the mountains while some are on the river with the most gorgeous view. We stayed in one of the hidden cottages (very tricky to find some cottage numbers) and ours had an outdoor hot tub which came in handy after a long day of walking.
Attractions: inside the park you can find various activities. One of my favorites was the tank ride (the gun makes a sound when you shoot it). Others include paragliding, zip lining, train ride, bungee photography and several others I can’t recall.
Food: food options are limited. No western food at all and only 1 or 2 delivery options so pack some of your favorite snacks cos you won’t be able to get them here.
Shopping: not many shopping options around except for souvenirs.

The natural wonder 'Lianzhou Underground River'
Experience the unique subtropical karst topography with its cave and underground river landscape at Lianzhou Underground River!
Outside the cave, the rain pours down, but inside it maintains a constant temperature of 18°C all year round. The sinkhole and underground river feature slow-moving stone waterfalls and stone flowers.
The cave entrance is very deep, and the tour takes more than an hour. Once inside, it's not as big as imagined. The walk is 1.8 kilometers, and the boat ride is 1.5 kilometers. There's no turning back; at the exit, there's a place selling Polygonatum glutinous rice wine, giving a real feeling of returning to the human world after a journey through time.!!
Lianzhou Underground River National AAAAA Scenic Area, hailed as a 'Chinese cave river wonder'. The upper and middle layers of the cave are terrestrial, while the lower layer is an underground river. The cave is filled with all kinds of strange stalactites, stalagmites, stone columns, and stone mantles. The temperature inside the cave remains around 18°C throughout the year, with fresh air, warm in winter and cool in summer.
