#Overseas Travel Natural Erosion: Feeling the Fragility of Civilization at Ta Prohm Among the Angkor ruins, Ta Prohm possesses a distinct charm, distinct from Angkor Wat. Famously featured in the film "Tomb Raider," the temple complex is eroded and covered by the roots of a giant Kapok tree, creating a spectacular sight. This unique landscape, where nature seems to be engulfing a man-made civilization, leaves a striking contrast to the orderly beauty of Angkor Wat. The massive tree roots, sometimes entwined with the stone walls and sometimes breaking them apart, resemble living sculptures. Some trees, in particular, sprouted through the temple roof or wrapped themselves around the entire wall, simultaneously supporting the temple from collapse. Ta Prohm most vividly conveys the feeling of a "lost city," buried in the jungle for centuries after the fall of the Khmer Empire. It was a mysterious and solemn space that made me reflect on how fleeting human history is in the face of nature.
