Hong Yin Mountain House

Hong Yin Mountain House, located in Mudu Ancient Town, Wuzhong District, Suzhou City, is the private garden of Mudu literati Xu Shiyuan in the early Qing Dynasty. Every time Emperor Qianlong went to the south of the Yangtze River, he would first abandon his boat and land here, and enter the garden for a tour. Therefore, locals are accustomed to calling Hong Yin Mountain House as Qianlong's folk palace. Jia Xiaolan, He Shen, Liu Yong and other ministers have also stayed here several times, leaving behind many popular stories. Hong Yin Mountain House is composed of Xiuye Garden and Xiaoyin Garden, two Ming Dynasty gardens. Its 'beauty of mountains and rivers, and the victory of pool pavilions and flowers,' far surpasses other gardens. At the end of the Qing Dynasty, part of Xiaoyin Garden was the former residence of Shen Shou, the 'Embroidery Queen' of that generation.
