Self-driving Sharing: Wuyi Mountain National Park Scenic Route No. 1

On a sunny and pleasant day in mid-November, we set off from Sancai Peak Viewing Platform, passing by Moon Bay, Qinglong Waterfall, Taoyuanyu, Wild Monkey Valley, and finally arriving at Tongmuguan. The entire Wuyi Mountain National Park Scenic Route No. 1 requires self-driving, with no noisy tour groups inside the scenic area, allowing you to fully enjoy the clear streams and forest scenery along the way. My favorite spot on the whole trip was the stream at Longdu in Tongmu Village. The water was crystal clear, and during the dry season, you could see the white stones in the streambed. The afternoon sunlight shone on the stream, and listening to the gentle flow of the water, this is what the charm of the mountains and forests must be like. Tongmuguan is located at the border of Fujian and Jiangxi provinces, at an altitude of 1100 meters, and is one of the eight major passes of Wuyi Mountain. At Tongmuguan, you can hike up a section of the mountain where there is a temple. Tongmu Village below Tongmuguan is the birthplace of Zhengshan Xiaozhong, the ancestor of black tea. It is said that in the early Qing Dynasty, an army passed through this area and camped near a tea factory. Some soldiers slept on freshly picked, unprocessed tea leaves. After the soldiers left, the tea makers, to prevent the tea from absorbing the soldiers' scent, used the mountain's Masson pine to smoke and dry the tea leaves. After this tea was sold at the Xingcun tea market in Wuyi Mountain, it unexpectedly attracted special buyers the following year. This is the story of the birth of Zhengshan Xiaozhong. The Wuyi Mountain National Park Scenic Route No. 1 is quite suitable for mountain driving, with convenient spots to stop and explore, making it a worthwhile experience. Note: Only the Qinglong Waterfall requires an entrance fee of 68 yuan. The overall road conditions are good, but many places have narrow roads with frequent passing vehicles, so please be cautious.
