Flourishing in Yunnan and Guizhou | The rain replenishes the Lu Tiankeng Stone Village

In a sinkhole in Guizhou, there is a stone village that has been a refuge for over 600 years, with only one way in and out. This is the Tiankeng Stone Village located in the Qianxinan of Guizhou, a mountain village hidden in the Lu Tiankeng. All the houses are built of stone, and the entire village is surrounded by mountains, resembling a paradise. The stone buildings and stone pavements of the village are very unique, and the environment is pristine, with fresh air. Now, 90% of the villagers have moved to the city, leaving only a few elderly people behind. The history of the village dates back over 600 years, when, due to isolation and wars, it is said that families mainly surnamed Chen fled here and settled down. The stone architecture and environment of the entire village give a sense of simplicity, tranquility, and comfort, making one feel relaxed and happy. The Yubulu Tiankeng is a national 3A scenic area, located within the jurisdiction of Xingyi City in southwestern Guizhou. It is shaped like a trumpet flower, with a flat bottom and a height difference of over 600m. Surrounded by peculiar peaks, 126 households live around the bottom of the sinkhole. The village is picturesque, with stone houses, stone walls, stone roads, forests, and bamboo, all naturally charming. On the eastern side of the sinkhole halfway up the mountain, there is a spring that, in addition to satisfying the drinking needs of the villagers and their livestock, also irrigates more than 200 acres of good farmland within the sinkhole. On the western side, there is a waterfall hole, which is the sinkhole drain (sinkhole funnel), discharging excess water. This sinkhole has been called the foremost of China's discovered sinkholes by geologists. The area of the ancient Yubulu village is more than 20,000 square meters, and the layout of the entire village is well distributed. The houses are concentrated on one side of the road, while the center of the bottom of the sinkhole is covered with large farmlands. The mountains surrounding the sinkhole tightly enclose the village at the bottom, with farmlands, houses, and forests interspersed among them, forming a harmonious scene.
