Shengshui Temple Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
A day trip to Mianyang, a city near Chengdu, feeding seagulls and visiting temples
Recently, I visited a beautiful city near Chengdu - Mianyang, which is only a short 30-minute high-speed train ride from Chengdu, which is very convenient. In the morning, I took a high-speed train from Chengdu, and the scenery outside the window quickly passed by, as if telling me the story of Mianyang. 30 minutes later, I set foot on the land of Mianyang and started my day trip. First, I went to Kangfuyuan Old Kaiyuan Rice Noodle Shop. The rice noodles here are really delicious, with a rich soup base, rich side dishes, and very affordable prices. The service attitude of the waiters in the shop is very good, which makes me feel the enthusiasm and friendliness of the people of Mianyang. Then, I went to Shenshui Temple and Luohan Temple. These two temples are ancient temples with a long history and deep cultural heritage, which made me feel a strong Buddhist cultural atmosphere. Especially in Luohan Temple, I saw many different forms of Luohan statues, which were really shocking. After lunch, I went to Majia Lane Snack Street. The snacks here are really rich, with all kinds of flavors. I tried the local cold dip and oil tea, which were really delicious. And the prices of the snacks here are very affordable, which makes me eat happily and satisfied. In the evening, I came to Sanjiang Peninsula Square. This is a good place to enjoy the beautiful night view of Mianyang and get close to seagulls. I bought some bread to feed them, watching them soar in the sky and compete for food, which was really interesting. The whole day trip in Mianyang made me feel the beauty and unique charm of this city. Whether it's food, culture or scenery, it has left a deep impression on me. If you also want to experience the beauty of this city, why not take a trip to Mianyang! Imagine that you are in a bustling square, surrounded by various stalls and shops. Suddenly, you notice a small stall with a simple sign hanging on it, which reads: 'Hot Sale in the Square: 5 yuan each'. You come closer and find that they are various small ornaments and souvenirs. This price is simply a bargain, so you buy one without hesitation. Then, your eyes are attracted by an ancient temple, which is Shenshui Temple. This temple is adjacent to Luohan Temple, and the distance between them is very close, as if they are brothers. It is recommended that you go to Shenshui Temple first, and then you can directly go to Luohan Temple, they are connected. Walking into Shenshui Temple, you will see many exquisitely carved Buddha statues. These Buddha statues are lifelike, as if they want to tell you some profound stories about Buddhism. Continue to move forward, you will come to the entrance of Luohan Temple. There is a long and steep ladder here. If you feel too tired, you can choose to go directly from Shenshui Temple. The atmosphere of Luohan Temple makes you feel as if you have gone to Thailand. There are white pagoda groups there, which are very suitable for taking pictures. Every corner is full of exoticism, as if telling different stories. Here, you can explore and take pictures to your heart's content, recording your travel experience. The whole process of visiting the square, Shenshui Temple and Luohan Temple is full of exploration and surprises. Every discovery makes you have a deeper understanding of this city. And the souvenirs and photos you bought will become precious memories of your travel.

A 40-minute high-speed train takes you directly to the Sacred Water Sanctuary, an utterly awe-inspiring place
The Sacred Water Sanctuary is utterly awe-inspiring. The statues in this temple are so lifelike, they seem to come alive right before your eyes!
As soon as you enter the Auspicious Gate, it's as if you're transported to a mysterious and enchanting world.
In the morning rain, we arrived here, and the whole Buddhist realm was filled only with the sound of rain and footsteps, exceptionally tranquil. Every statue is meticulously crafted, vivid and lifelike, as if frozen in time here, waiting for the next cycle of reincarnation to arrive.
Standing here, it feels as if you can sense a tranquility and mystery that transcends time and space, purifying the soul deeply.

My Moments have been bombarded with questions! Everyone thought I went to Thailand! But actually, I'm just in Sichuan
Everyone thought I went to Thailand!
But actually, I'm just around Chengdu, in Mianyang.
Mianyang Luohan Temple was started from scratch by the abbot, Master Guoqing, who raised funds on his own. After more than twenty years of relentless effort and overcoming numerous hardships, the temple was finally built.
The temple complex is magnificent, featuring the Thousand Buddha Hall, Luohan Hall, a huge reclining Buddha, bell and drum towers, etc. Especially the lifelike Arhat statues and dragon sculptures among the 260 stone steps; the main building complex has the simple and solemn grandeur of Han Buddhism temples in northern China, with exquisite and majestic beauty.
It seems that not many people come here
It's still a niche spot for checking in
Standing in front of the majestic pagoda
Feels like being in a foreign land
Any random shot is a blockbuster💥

Yuewang Tower Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Mianyang is a nice place
Mianyang is very close to Chengdu, but it is not very well-known, probably because there are so many great places around Chengdu. This time, because of Cambridge and a plane ticket to Shanghai, I came here to experience Mianyang. The most famous attraction here is the Qiang Ethnic Tourism Area in Weijing District. The stone spheres are not particularly interesting; the place is small and the goods sold are common basic street stall items. However, in another area, the carvings and the scenery at Shenshui Sihe and Luohan Temple are incredibly stunning. It has now become a famous internet celebrity check-in spot. The overall number of people is also quite large, with many different kinds of Luohan statues. The sculptures are very distinctive, and the size is impressive to look at. Of course, Mianyang also has its own local specialty dishes.

Chengdu Suburban Tour | Direct High-Speed Train! A Nanny-Level One-Day Tour Guide to Mianyang
Don't want to be in the crowd during the Qingming Festival,
the city of Mianyang, near Chengdu, is definitely worth a visit.
Here you can feed seagulls, visit ancient temples, enjoy delicious food, and appreciate the night view🌃.
-
📍Mianyang: About 1.5 hours' drive from Chengdu, if you don't want to drive,
from Chengdu East Station to Mianyang North it only takes 37 minutes, 45 RMB per person💰.
🕊First Stop: Sanjiang Peninsula
The river view in Mianyang is extremely beautiful, giving you a feeling of being in Yunnan. The scenery of the seagulls skimming over the lake is not to be missed.
🍜Second Stop: Majia Alley Snacks, Lijia Old Shop
In Majia Alley, there are special snacks, Mianyang rice noodles, cold dipping, spring rolls, shorty pies, pot-sticker rice noodles with tea oil, and those who like it can try as much as they like.
As for the fighter jet among the fly restaurants, Lijia Old Shop, the must-order dishes are pepper and fish, braised pork knuckle, soft-braised crucian carp, and stir-fried liver and gall. The portions are huge, so order with caution.
⛩Third Stop: Luohan Temple, Shengshui Temple
The sacred temples of Mianyang can only be described as shocking. The two temples are connected. The charm of the thousand-year-old temples can only be appreciated by being there, as words are insufficient.
🌃Fourth Stop: Yuewang Tower to Appreciate the Night View
How beautiful is Mianyang at night? Just go to Yuewang Tower and you'll know. Yuewang Tower is brightly lit, with 🚘cars flowing endlessly below. The blend of classical and modern is visually striking.
The riverside view opposite Yuewang Tower, under the light, is like a tender girl, full of affection and charm.
-
After enjoying the night view🌃, it's time to head home. If you take the high-speed train🚄, it's best to book your tickets in advance according to the schedule.

Climbing the Yue Wang Tower, one can see 'The tower is a hundred feet high, and one can pluck the stars with their hands'
Yue Wang Tower, located in Mianyang City, Sichuan Province, faces the Fujiang River. It was built by Li Zhen, the eighth son of Emperor Taizong of Tang, when he was the governor of Mianzhou. It was built during the Xianqing period of Emperor Gaozong of Tang (656-661 AD), and the tower was ten zhang (about 100 feet) high, ranking first among the four famous towers at the time (Tengwang Pavilion was nine zhang high, Yellow Crane Tower was six zhang high, and Yueyang Tower was three zhang high).
Yue Wang Tower has been damaged and rebuilt several times. At the end of the Tang Dynasty, a large fire destroyed most of the tower, and it was extensively repaired during the Yuan Dynasty. A fire in the Ming Dynasty completely destroyed it, leaving only the Yue Wang Platform, and all the cultural relics were destroyed and disappeared. After that, the 'Yue Wang Tower' was unknown for a long time.
The Yue Wang Tower was rebuilt from 1989 to 2011. The main building is now 99 meters high, with 15 floors inside and outside, and the style is Tang-style overhanging eaves and hip roof. The height of 99 meters is still the highest among the imitation ancient buildings in the country (the current Tengwang Pavilion is 57.2 meters high, the Yellow Crane Tower is 52.6 meters high, the Guanque Tower is 72 meters high, and the Yueyang Tower is 32 meters high), hence the saying 'Yue Wang Tower is domineering, Yellow Crane Tower is atmospheric, Tengwang Pavilion is talented, Yueyang Tower is elegant'.
What's different about the Yue Wang Tower?
Floors 1-5 are pavilions, the second floor in the north and south directions are halls, floors 10-13 are towers, the 15th floor is a pavilion, the top is like a pagoda, each floor has an outline, in the Tang-style overhanging eaves and hip roof style, combining pavilions, towers, pavilions, halls, corridors, and pagodas. On the Yue Wang Tower, you can overlook the beautiful scenery of the entire Mianyang City. When the lights are on, the Yue Wang Tower shines even more in the night. Looking at the light show on the opposite bank, an ancient Mianyang and a Mianyang full of technology blend here, and for a moment it seems to be traveling through two time and space, feeling the unique atmosphere of the blend of ancient and modern.

ngwu Bao'en Temple | The most complete revolving sutra repository in China is located here
The most complete revolving sutra repository in China is located here. Pingwu Bao'en Temple is situated at the northeast corner of the county town of Pingwu County, Sichuan Province. It was built by Wang Xi, the deputy envoy of Longzhou during the Ming Dynasty, to repay imperial grace from the fifth to the eleventh year of the Zhengtong era (1440-1446).
Bao'en Temple faces west and is aligned eastward, with the main axis sequentially arranged with the mountain gate, the Hall of Heavenly Kings, the Mahavira Hall, and the Pavilion of Ten Thousand Buddhas.
In front of the Mahavira Hall on both sides, to the east is the Hall of Great Compassion, and to the west is the Avatamsaka Sutra Repository. The ingeniously crafted revolving sutra repository inside the Avatamsaka Sutra Repository is one of the most important cultural relics of Bao'en Temple. Commonly known as the 'Starry Chariot,' it resembles a seven-tiered pagoda soaring into the sky, standing 11 meters tall with a diameter of 7 meters. It is the best-preserved one in the country and has extremely high historical and artistic value. The golden dragons surrounding the revolving sutra repository seem ready to leap out with their eyes wide open and claws outstretched.
The entrance fee for Pingwu Bao'en Temple is 40 yuan, which is very worthwhile! The Jiumen Expressway will open by the end of the year, making it very convenient to travel from Chengdu to Pingwu. Start planning no

It is said that there are 9999 dragons in the temple, which is on par with the Forbidden City.
