Terracotta Warriors | Wonder of Xi'an
#falltrip
The Terracotta Army, also known as the Terracotta Warriors and Horses, in the city of Xi'an, in Shaanxi Province, China, is one of the most significant archaeological discoveries in the world. The army is an astonishing archaeological site consisting of thousands of life-sized terracotta soldiers, horses, and chariots. Each figure is unique in its appearance and clothing, reflecting the diversity of the real army. This discovery has provided valuable insights into the military, art, and culture of the Qin Dynasty and is considered one of the most important archaeological findings of the 20th century.
It was discovered in 1974 by local farmers who were digging a well. The find was accidental and led to the excavation of the soldiers that are meticulously detailed, depicting infantry, archers, cavalry, and generals. They are armed with real weapons of the time, such as swords, spears, and crossbows. The Terracotta Warriors were created to accompany China's first emperor, Qin Shi Huang, in the afterlife. They were meant to serve and protect him in death, reflecting the belief in the afterlife during the Qin Dynasty (221-206 BC). The whole site is divided into several pits, with Pit 1 being the largest and most well-known. Pit 2 and Pit 3 contain additional figures, horses, and chariots.
Tips and Tricks ⁉️
⛏️The Terracotta Army is part of a larger complex, including the emperor's mausoleum, which remains largely unexcavated. The mausoleum is thought to be a massive underground palace containing various treasures and the tomb of Qin Shi Huang. It's a UNESCO World Heritage site and a must-see for anyone interested in archaeology and Chinese history.

Terracotta Warriors Emperor Qing Army museum
A must visit!! 🤩just an hour away fron Xi'an, full of history and culture. Truly admirable what we can create to preserve moments in time that are significant.
🎟 tickets are 120RMB per person. there are wechat codes all around to buy them online. If that doesn't work for you, approach the nearest security guard and they will let you into the ticket office.
🏛 there are 3 pits, these are all within the same complex and all included in the ticket. Pit 1 is the largest and has the most excavated warriors.
🏃It took us 2.5 hours to walk around, we went on a good day so was not too busy, lots of tours though. I can see why it can take 3h or more on a busy day as you wait for spots around the excavations to see the warriors.
📽 don't miss the VR cinema 68RMB each, great experience,.you feel like one of the warriors immersed in the battle, listening to the history about the Qing dynasty and meaning of the excavated warriors.
🍜🥤 there are plenty of places to eat and drink as you leave the complex, including big restaurant chains. also survenir galore 😀
🎧If you get the audio guide as you cross the entrance gate, REMEMBER to return it before you cross the exit gate, otherwise you will need to qeue up again to get your deposit back 😭

Terracotta warriors
The Terracotta Warriors are one of the oldest and most famous attractions in China! The attraction itself is situated near Xian and can easily be accessed by taxi. I would advise hiring a local guide as they would be able to tell you more about the site and give a more insightful experience. There are lots of information stalls and shops at the attraction as well as some food and beverage outlets near the exit #tripblazers #mytripvlog #urbanexplorer #china

Terra-Cotta Warriors
Definitely a must do while in Xi’an so much culture and history behind these statues. It’s hard to believe they are still uncovering these amazing statues. Almost harder to believe that each one has a different face, if we could only learn the story behind each statue and the story of the person it’s modeled after. Honestly breathtaking in every way! #chinatravel #china #xian

How to visit the Terra-Cotta Army in Xi'An
Xi'An in China's Shaanxi is famous for the City-Wall, food and... The Terra-Cotta Army! Some decades ago, a team of Chinese and international archeologists found the site with hundreds of Terra-Cotta figures from ancient times.
Today it's a museum and it's really impressive to visit.
📍 The Chinese name is 秦始皇兵马俑博物馆 (BingMaYong Museum). There are basically three options to go there: 1) Public bus from Xi'An Center 2) Own car 3) Taxi. It's a little bit outside the center, so better don't go too late.
🎟️ Entrance is 120RMB, discounts for students

I've stepped on the pit of the Terracotta Army in Xi'an for everyone! Avoiding the thunder
"The ground plane is a mysterious mirror. Above the mirror, there are the towering and silent mausoleums; beneath the mirror, the time of the empire still walks."
The Mausoleum of Emperor Qin Shi Huang is as big as 78 Forbidden Cities, equivalent to an underground kingdom, and the Terracotta Army is just the tip of the iceberg.
Let's talk about the 【Bronze Crown】 bronze chariots and horses, which took 8 years to restore and were made at a scale of one-half of the vehicles used by Emperor Qin Shi Huang's royal fleet. The displayed No. 1 chariot is a replica.
The two chariots are mainly made of bronze, and they are the earliest, largest, most complex, most complete, highest level, most exquisitely made, and best-preserved bronze chariots unearthed in China. They are also the largest bronze artifacts discovered in world archaeology.
👀Recommended visiting order for the Terracotta Army: Pit No. 1—Pit No. 3—Pit No. 2
Pit No. 1: Currently the pit with the most terracotta warriors, the first three rows without armor are infantry (dare-to-die troops). I thought I couldn't capture the effect of the sunset on the terracotta warriors on a rainy day (in fact, I couldn't without a telephoto lens), but there is a warm light spotlight overhead, which photographers can use to create.
Pit No. 3: It is the command center, currently the smallest in scale. Deer bones have been unearthed in the pit, presumably used by the army for divination.
Pit No. 2: Still being "developed", there is a work area set up on-site, and archaeologists are usually present to restore the terracotta warriors.
♢The warriors in this pit are special forces, among which the kneeling archer was unearthed intact, the only one that has not been restored, with clear hair, shoelace eyelets, fingernails, and even palm prints visible.
♢The Terracotta Army has a unique face for each soldier, the ultimate in realism, admiring the craftsmanship of the artisans two thousand years ago, and also paying tribute to today's cultural relic restorers.
👉🏻About stamping: After exiting Pit No. 2, go to the cultural and creative store on the left outside (the ice cream sold there has no eyes), where you need to buy a pass for 35 yuan, and staff will help you stamp it.
🚌Transportation: Take Line 1/6 to 'Textile City', transfer to Line 9 to 'Huaqing Pool', and then take a bus or taxi (10 yuan/person) to get there.
🎫Ticket: 120 yuan/person (includes the Terracotta Army + Mausoleum of Emperor Qin Shi Huang) Students 60 yuan/person
📍Address: Emperor Qin Shi Huang's Mausoleum Museum, Lintong District, Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province
⏰Opening hours: 8:30~18:00 (entry stops at 17:00)

Terracotta Warriors
Terracotta warriors are a very special place to visit close from Xi'an.
We went there by public transport. It was fast and cheap. There is a really easy combination taking the subway from the center to Fangzhicheng (L1) and then from Fangzhicheng to Hua Qing (L9). Then you can take a bus directly to the gate of the scenic area.
We arrived there early in the morning and we enjoyed a lot the visit.

Incredible experience I had exploring the world-famous Terracotta Museum today.
The size of Pit 1 is mind-boggling. Spanning across an area of approximately 14,000 sqm, it is equivalent to the size of about 2 football fields.
And what I saw inside was nothing short of breathtaking. Thousands of life-sized terracotta warriors, horses, and chariots filled the pit, all meticulously crafted and arranged in battle formation. The attention to detail in each figurine was astounding, showcasing the immense skill and craftsmanship of the ancient Chinese artisans.
As I walked through the pit, I couldn't help but feel a sense of reverence for the grandeur and power of the Qin Dynasty. The terracotta warriors stood tall and proud, their expressions frozen in time, as if ready to defend their emperor at a moment's notice. It was a humbling experience to witness the legacy of an ancient civilization come to life before my eyes.
I feel incredibly fortunate to have witnessed such a remarkable testament to the ancient Chinese civilization.

Visiting Terra-cotta warriors in September.
The terra-cotta army. It was really overwhelming to visit this place. A lot of people came to watch this place. All the three pits carry different meanings. And, the vibes with all three of them are different. Each of the pits have their own uniqueness. The surrounding locations were also beautiful. History will always be a mystery. I highly recommend this place to visit in Xi’an, China.#tourist #China #terracottaarmy #terracottawarriors

8000 Terracotta Warriors buried in Tomb
8000 life-size soldiers were buried in the tomb of Qing Shi Huang, the first emperor of China.
Today, I visited the famous Terracotta Army, also considered as one of the greatest archeological discoveries in the world.
When the army was discovered by a local farmer in 1974, most of the clay figurines were in pieces.
It has taken archeologists decades of work to piece together what once would have been models of Qing Shi Huang's best soldiers.
Still, the portion containing the emperors remains have not yet been unexcavated.
It was mind blowing to see such a grand scale of funerary art. Although there were thousands of figurines, each warrior had unique characteristics-facial features, hairstyle, clothing, and pose.
To this day, The Terracotta Army remains an incredibly fascinating window into ancient life in China.

#terracottaarmy #xian Terracotta Army was a great place to visit. It’s located out of the city but was easy to get to (subway and bus). I was exploring the place myself, although there is an option to hire a guide. by myself I felt more flexible and free. Do not recommend to visit the place during the peak season, as the city of great historical importance attracts lots of tourists, so during the peak season you have a risk not to see anything
