Hotel near Kyoto Station and surrounding areas,Kyoto 36.8% of visitors choose this area

This hotel is conveniently located near Kyoto Station, making it super easy to get to from Kansai Airport – it's right outside the station! The soundproofing is excellent; once you close the window, you can barely hear any noise. There are plenty of convenience stores, supermarkets, and restaurants inside the station, so dining is a breeze. The room itself is quite spacious for Japanese standards. Check-in and check-out are self-service, which is convenient. It's perfect if you're planning to take the JR or Kintetsu lines to explore nearby cities. However, if you're mainly looking to explore Kyoto city, it might not be as convenient as you'll have a bit of a walk to catch a bus.

A thoroughly Japanese hotel! The breakfast was plentiful, and the onsen (hot spring) was incredibly relaxing. We were also lucky enough to meet a ********* lady at check-in, making communication effortless. She was so friendly and sweet, providing a very detailed introduction and eagerly helping us resolve many issues. We made a smart choice staying for six consecutive days – highly recommended!

This is a long-established hotel, very close to Kyoto Station, the city's main transportation hub. The rooms are spacious with large windows that let in plenty of light. For breakfast, you have a choice of two restaurants: one is a rotating restaurant on a high floor with great views, offering a set menu. The other is a buffet on the first floor with a very rich selection. The downsides are the lack of laundry facilities, the bathroom isn't wet/dry separated, and the room lighting is a bit dim.

Extremely good breakfast buffet spread and sufficient varieties for vegetarian travellers at JPY1,980 after tax.. 2nd floor onzen opening hours are long enough to accommodate guests’ travelling plans/schedules (6am to 9am & 4pm to 1am).Great location and hassle free self check in and check out process. Room is small but comfortable. Only fall short in terms of amenities. Only very basic standard items such as comb, face wash. Disappointed that it doesn’t provide items such as mouthwash, onzen bath powder, facial mask. Hope hotel can consider including these items which many other hotels provide. Overall a satisfactory stay.

The location is super convenient, with a Lawson convenience store and many popular influencer restaurants nearby. The ladies and gentlemen at the hotel front desk were all very friendly. It seems like both the guests and the cleaning staff are Japanese, which made me feel very secure! Next time I come to Kyoto, as long as there's a room available here, I'll definitely stay again.

A Perfect Blend of Tradition and Comfort in Kyoto During my recent stay at Saka Hotel Kyoto, I was immediately struck by its peaceful surroundings and inviting atmosphere. Located in the charming Higashiyama neighborhood, it offers an ideal launching point for discovering Kyoto’s historic sites. Despite being so close to famous temples and shrines, the hotel maintains a tranquil setting that feels worlds away from the bustle of the city. From check-in onward, I was warmly welcomed by the professional and attentive team. Their devotion to creating a memorable guest experience was evident in every conversation. Whether offering sightseeing suggestions or promptly assisting with any need, they made me feel completely at home. My room showcased an attractive fusion of modern design and traditional Japanese elements. Soft earth tones, tasteful décor, and well-chosen furnishings created an atmosphere that was both chic and peaceful. The spacious bathtub, in particular, stood out as the perfect place to unwind after wandering Kyoto’s centuries-old streets. Although I didn’t have a chance to sample the hotel’s dining options, every other aspect of my stay was faultless. The exquisite decor, the serene environment, and the staff’s unparalleled service exceeded all my expectations. If you’re seeking a sophisticated, relaxing retreat that still allows you to easily explore Kyoto’s rich cultural heritage, Saka Hotel Kyoto is an excellent choice.

Great stay! Clean, easy to find and walk to convenient stores/supermarkets. Reliable staffs that will go the extra mile to sort your luggage forwarding even if they don’t speak your language. Hassle free. Elevator stopping at lobby each use might annoy you if you’re rushing 😂 My favourite thing is their calm music selections on the TV while you wind down, now I weirdly miss it! Would come back again.

Very good hotel. The breakfasts were fantastic and very varied, including both local and international options. The service was excellent. I docked a star because of the noise isolation in the room; I could hear my neighbor next door, even rustling sounds. Overall, I recommend this hotel.

This was the best hotel of the three we stayed in on our trip to Japan. The location was absolutely central to everything, and amenities were all close at hand. Close to Kyoto station meant that even when you were out all you had to do was finding a train or bus coming back to the station. From the first view of the hotel inside we knew we were going to enjoy our stay. The room blew us away when we opened the door, it was well laid out. The service and food were exceptional, absolutely loved the ”Meat Theatre” this was an all you can eat and well worth the money. The staff were truly helpful at all times. Exceptionally good value loved it and would recommend it to everyone we know that are going to Kyoto.

Just a five-minute walk to Kyoto Station, making it incredibly convenient for transportation. They offer complimentary drinks and snacks at certain times, which is a thoughtful touch. There's a popular sukiyaki restaurant right next door in the alley. The hotel staff are very kind and friendly, making for an overall comfortable and satisfying stay.

GGuest UserFacilities: My only complaint is that the king-size bed in the king room is made of two single mattresses pushed together, and after sleeping on it for a while, a gap forms between them. Hygiene: The hygiene is excellent. Environment: The surrounding area is very quiet, and there are convenience stores not too far away. Service: The service attitude is great, and the hotel even offers free shuttle service to Kyoto Station.

GGuest UserEverything was superb with the one exception, for an onsen hotel that have one of the selling point, in room onsen bath, the water was just regular hot water, why would I need to stay at an onsen hotel with in room onsen bath if any bathtub with hot water would do? Trip.com site did not specify that it wasn’t hot spring water. But luckily there was a better room with actual hot spring water supplied to the room available for upgrade, so I spent the extra to make my stay absolutely perfectly memorable.

TThe Travel HunterThis was our first time staying in the Gion area, and Hotel the Celestine truly elevated the experience. The atmosphere is calm, elegant and very Kyoto. From check in to departure, everything felt smooth and professionally handled. The cleanliness was impeccable. The room was thoughtfully arranged with a perfect balance of modern comfort and traditional Japanese touches. Beds were extremely comfortable and the space felt well planned, not cramped like many city hotels. What makes this hotel special is the location. Stepping outside places you immediately in the charm of old Kyoto. Walking through Gion in the early morning before the crowds arrive was unforgettable. Service deserves special mention. The team was polite, warm and always ready to assist with genuine hospitality. A beautiful property for anyone who appreciates quiet luxury in a prime cultural setting. We would gladly stay again.

AAnonymous UserHotel was in an ideal location and convenient to walk from Kujo station (which is less crowded than Kyoto Station) and beside a convenience store. Staff who checked in us was patient and kindly explained the calculation for the kyoto accommodation tax. We opted for no daily cleaning service which gave us a discount, instead new towels were hanged outside our door each day. The dining area was alright and we were able to find seats at the timing we went though it might be more crowded at certain times. Breakfast buffet had a good spread and the dinner menu was alright. The rooms I got were away from the road so it was quiet and since it was spring time, it didn't feel too hot/cold. The aircon in the room can be set to heater mode. The roads leading to the hotel are relatively quiet with fewer shops.

GGuest UserThe hotel's location is fantastic! The design is also very modern and forward-thinking. The front desk and concierge staff were all incredibly enthusiastic and always attentive to whether we needed any assistance. It was a very satisfying stay. We stayed in Japan for 7 nights and switched between 3 hotels, and this was by far the most satisfying five-star hotel experience!

TThe Travel HunterOutstanding experience at Hotel Granvia Kyoto. Staying here made our Kyoto trip effortless, especially with the hotel located right above Kyoto Station. Trains, buses and shopping are just steps away, which saved us so much time and energy. The hospitality was excellent. The staff were polite, attentive and very efficient, making us feel welcomed immediately. Check in was smooth and the overall service throughout our stay was consistently professional. The room was spacious, spotless and very comfortable, perfect for resting after a full day of sightseeing. This hotel combines prime location with refined service and comfort. I would gladly stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Kyoto. Truly a five star experience.

WwshooiWe had a pleasant stay at Kyoto Umekoji Kadensho, mainly thanks to its excellent location—right next to the train station and just one stop from Kyoto Station, making it very convenient for getting around. The room was spacious and well-designed, especially with the separated shower and toilet areas, which made it more comfortable for multiple occupants. A highlight of the stay was the private baths. Although one of the five baths was out of order, the system worked efficiently—even at full occupancy, we never had to wait long for one to become available. The little touches after a bath were a nice surprise—we really enjoyed the complimentary ice cream and Vitagen. That said, there are a few areas that could be improved. The hotel relies heavily on disposable wares, which felt excessive. Drinks in the lounge were served in disposable cups, and even the complimentary ramen supper came in disposable containers. On top of that, seating for the supper was quite limited, so many guests ended up taking their food back to their rooms. Overall, a comfortable and convenient stay with great amenities, but the sustainability aspect could definitely be improved.

IIRADAThough the hotel itself is good (I’m staying here for a second time), this time the service was awful.1) went to breakfast, me and my friend ordered 2 dishes, when in 20 mins time there still was nothing, we reminded a waitress of our order… another 20 mins - still nothing. All in all we spent 40 mins at the breakfast restaurant and didn’t get our food. When we explained this to the hostess she just said “sorry” and we left the restaurant hungry. 2) ordered afternoon tea for 3 persons (afternoon tea is served at another restaurant at the hotel). 2 normal sets and 1 for a person who doesn’t like dairy products. That person is me. I explained that I have no allergy, I just don’t like the taste of milk, cheese, et cetera. So I’m fine with bread and with sweets, just not the ones that have cheese on top. In the end instead of the sweets they brought me a fruit platter (that’s all, my friends got a lot of different sweets), when I again explained to the hostess that I’m fine with sweets (sweet bread) and would like to eat the sweets included in the afternoon tea set she just said that they “prepared smth else” for me (she meant the fruit platter). No apology no anything. Mind you, I ordered afternoon tea last year at this same place - everything was alright! As this is a 5 star hotel and everything here is rather expensive (including breakfast and afternoon tea) this is unacceptable level if service.
