Location and amenities were great but only one big issue I really can't swallow. For the two days that I went out and clicked on the Do Not Disturb tab, both days my room was entered and cleaned up. I called the front desk to clarify if that was routine - the cleaners entering the room even if the DND button was up - and the reply was ”如果旅客不需要打扫卫生可以跟前台说一声我们再通知保洁 (If travellers doesnt require a room makeup, they can inform the front desk and we will inform the cleaners” which I asked then what's the point of installing the DND button and make up room button separately. I am pissed because I trusted that no one was going to enter the room and technically, supposedly could be in contact with my belongings as had my luggage was unpacked and lying around. Now that they breached this trust and while nothing was missing, who can possibly assure that no one touched my things or had strangers entering the room in the process. I will avoid staying here in the future and choose another place that doesn't require me to go that extra step of pressing the DND button AND informing the front desk, which is pure ridiculous.

This smart hotel is absolutely fantastic! The whole room is equipped with a smart system, so you can open the door and use the elevator with face recognition, which means no fumbling for a room key. The power is on 24/7, so no outages. From the comfort of your bed, you can just call out to turn lights on/off, open/close the curtains, and adjust the air conditioning – no more searching for switches, it's a lifesaver for anyone who loves to relax! Even when you order takeout, a robot delivers it right to your door, making pickup super convenient. It's clean, high-tech, convenient, and fun. Highly recommend staying here!

I was really impressed and felt completely at ease staying at this hotel for my trip. It definitely deserves a genuine positive review. From the moment I walked in, I felt comfortable. The front desk staff were incredibly friendly, polite, and patient. Check-in was super quick. We booked two rooms, and the front desk thoughtfully arranged for them to be next to each other, which was very considerate. The rooms themselves are quite spacious, clean, and tidy. The sheets and duvet covers looked fresh and had no strange smells, and the pillows and blankets were soft and cozy. The hotel's soundproofing is excellent; it was very quiet at night, allowing for a really good night's sleep. The bathroom was spotless, with no water stains or odors, and the wet/dry separation worked well. Hot water came on instantly and at a perfect temperature. The hotel's location is also fantastic, not far from nearby attractions and food streets, and getting a taxi is easy. All the staff, from the cleaning aunties to the front desk, were consistently polite. The value for money here is truly exceptional. I wholeheartedly recommend it to everyone!

This is a great Republic of China-era hotel, tucked away in a quiet spot yet still central. The courtyard is very unique, and the hotel's location is excellent. It's about 800 meters from popular attractions like Geyuan Garden, Heyuan Garden, Dongguan Street, Pishi Street, Dongguan Ancient Ferry, and Xing Street – all within easy reach. There are also plenty of dining options; the famous Erchun Fried Rice is right next door, and old brands like Fuchun Teahouse, Maopailou, and Gonghechun are all nearby. It's incredibly convenient for an after-dinner stroll. The service is excellent, and the rooms are clean and hygienic. Located at the entrance of a small alley, it's wonderfully peaceful and beautiful. If time permits, brewing a pot of tea and sitting in the courtyard to soak in the 'slow Yangzhou' vibe would be truly delightful!

I booked a king-size room, which was very large, with a separate wet and dry bathroom and a balcony. The breakfast was rich in variety, with both Chinese and Western styles. The hotel is garden-style, and the lotus flowers are blooming beautifully in this season, making for great photos. The hotel's outdoor pool is also very beautiful, and you can experience it with your children. The hotel service is also very good, with enough mineral water in the room, and a housekeeper to greet them attentively. When I left, they also gave me a beautiful notebook. The service was very considerate and the price was very affordable. It is worth staying here next time.
The location is very good, the reception is warm, and it will be delivered to the downstairs. There are many houses, the overall decoration is classical, the room is clean and tidy, no smell~(˶╹ꇴ╹˶)~ and the layout is very comfortable, the aunt is also very enthusiastic, and will say hello when meeting. Sound insulation is average, but it is understandable because it is a courtyard. The mattress is very comfortable~ I sleep very well, it is very convenient to go to various attractions from the hotel, and the takeaway is also very easy to find hahaha will come back next time!

The hotel's location is superb, right next to Shantang Street and other popular attractions like Changmen. It's nestled within the Changmen Hotel complex, offering a peaceful retreat amidst the bustling city. The courtyard boasts a unique Jiangnan charm, quiet and elegant. Inside, the hotel is clean and warm. While the decor might be a bit dated, you can still see the original quality. The staff were also very helpful, offering a free room upgrade and excellent service. Definitely recommended.

What an unique experience! Nothing could be more authentic than that! Our room is on the first floor right by the water. We saw many women rowing the gondola boats and serenading beautiful songs to their passengers. We came in a low season, so there wasn’t that much crowd. We could stroll around leisurely to take in all the beautiful sights that this place offers to us. The home stay is operated by a couples. They are so friendly, kind, and always eager to help out, especially the wife (Ms. Chan). The day when we left, she helped us getting a didi ride which is more cheaper than the one we hailed ourselves. The room we stayed in is very unique, it is not super big, but it is very clean and it has everything we needed for the night. All and all, I would highly recommend this place to my friends and family.

For my father's birthday, I chose the newest five-star hotel in Gusu District for this Suzhou trip. The Kimpton's architectural style, which blends traditional Suzhou gardens and water features with modern facilities and InterContinental's excellent guest services, made my father very satisfied with this year's birthday arrangements. Moreover, we unexpectedly encountered a snow scene after many years; that snowy breakfast time and the sunny departure will become unforgettable memories for our whole family.
Of course, even a perfect jade has its flaws, so I'd like to offer some suggestions:
1. **Shoe-changing bench:** It's too light and easily slides when sat upon. The lower edge of the decorative painting behind it curves outward and could easily bump the back of one's head. This safety hazard definitely needs rectification.
2. **Luggage rack & drying rack:** For such a large room, there was no luggage rack. The only place that could barely accommodate a suitcase was also the only place to hang clothes. Freshly washed clothes inevitably drip, which is very impractical. I suggest adding a traditional retractable drying line in the bathroom and a drying rack in the south-facing courtyard.
3. **Privacy of the bathing area:** An open-plan modern design is fine for a king-size bed room, but it becomes awkward for a twin-bed room without a relatively enclosed bathing space.
4. **Bathroom door opening direction:** The outward-opening design is truly unreasonable, to the point that the bathmat can only be placed to the side, or the distance between the bottom of the door and the floor needs to be larger so it doesn't affect the mat when opening and closing.
5. **Switch locations are hard to find:** We couldn't find the switches for the two bedside lamps and the bathroom curtain for two days.
I suggest that the concierge could briefly introduce the room facilities when escorting guests to their rooms to enhance the check-in experience, so guests don't have to waste time figuring out how to use them.
6. **Unstable shower water temperature:** The water temperature was slightly low on the first day but very comfortable on the second.
7. **Lighting:** The room is large, but the lighting points are a bit sparse, making the overall ambiance rather dim, especially on cloudy days and at night, which makes it difficult for guests with poor eyesight to see.
8. **Air conditioning system:** The heating was insufficient; it only met standards with the help of a space heater.
9. **Housekeeping service:** They were very friendly, but I hope they come to work not only with a smile but also with their brains. Although guests generally don't fuss over minor issues like forgetting things, such a work attitude is indeed unprofessional. After all, Kimpton Bamboo Grove is a boutique hotel under InterContinental, not a boutique guesthouse. Guesthouses can emphasize personal touch, but a hotel's foundation is standardization.
10. **Breakfast:** The Western options were generally good, especially the baked goods, which were quite decent by current hotel breakfast standards. They also offered heating service, and the butter and cream were in good condition. The freshly made French toast and seasonal panettone were also a pleasant surprise, actually meeting expectations. The pudding bread and pineapple buns are commendable. The cereal with milk and fruit yogurt area felt quite high-end for a basic room priced a little over 1000, and there were also simple options of three cheeses and fresh cold cuts. The only letdown was the scrambled eggs with milk, which were really not good – overcooked and bland.
As a restaurant specializing in Su-style and Huaiyang cuisine, the Chinese breakfast selection was truly disappointing, especially the steamed items; none of them were up to par. The only satisfying item was the red soup noodles with braised pork, though from the perspective of Su-style noodles, these hard noodles weren't quite springy enough. But that's a minor issue, as many people prefer a softer texture. The red bean paste tangyuan (small glutinous rice balls) offered on the second day were quite good, with a rich bean paste. It would be even better if they could improve the heat retention, similar to how coffee was delivered to the glass room with a plastic lid on the first snowy day – that showed good awareness.
Overall, the restaurant staff had excellent attitudes. What impressed me most was going for breakfast on the second day; they had already arranged seating based on my father's preference. Their proactiveness and enthusiasm in service were impeccable, especially the young women in green suits.
The regular Huaiyang cuisine at Bamboo Grove Restaurant was also well-executed, but innovation in traditional dishes needs to be approached with caution. The professional skills of the waitstaff should be further trained to channel their enthusiasm for their jobs effectively and make the guests' dining experience even smoother.

The room is very nice, with complete indoor facilities. It has a yard, a balcony, and a dock. The first floor has a ceiling height of approximately 8-10 meters, which is quite comfortable. The second floor also has a balcony with plenty of sunlight. It's suitable for family trips.

GGuest UserReally beautiful place. It looks to be brand new - maybe it is, maybe it isn't, but it certainly looks new. The room (a suite) was very spacious, very clean. Just a very beautiful place that fit well with the surroundings. The whole building was impeccably clean.
I rated the service 5/5 because the owners were very nice, and largely left us alone. The family was processing tea and were quite busy - check-in was extremely quick, check-out too. I'm not looking for hospitality, so being left alone suited us fine - this isn't a criticism at all! The rooms don't really come with much extra (tea, coffee etc.), just a couple of bottles of water, so best to know that before you book if you usually expect this, but we didn't so we were fine with it.
You can buy really good tea from them (maybe we timed it well as we arrived at the peak tea-picking time). The owners were very kind and let us try some, and it's really good tea - we ended up buying some.
Food was pretty good, but again they were quite busy and have specific times that food is available, and no menu, so best to check ahead with them (again, really taking into account that they were super busy processing tea when we were there). Absolutely not a problem as there are so many great restaurants around too.
TV in the room had VOD but without VIP, so if you're looking to watch movies or anything best to bring your own (including HDMI cable as our TV didn't have one).
Location excellent. Space for maybe 4 cars to park, right next to a small hill, very close to the pick-up point for the sightseeing bus to take you up to Xishan, and surrounded by lots of restaurants, B+Bs etc. so if you like coffee, there's a shop just down the road. Very beautiful surroundings - you will be shocked that you're so close to Suzhou as there's absolutely no evidence that you're anywhere near a city!
All in all, really enjoyable. Amazing price for a suite (around Y500 per night) and one of the better homestay-style places we've stayed in. Highly recommended.

HHannahThis is such a lovely little homestay! We struggled to find the entrance since Tencent Maps sent us a street over, but after adding them on WeChat they sent us a pin right away and helped us make it (see photo!). The room was clean, well-air-conditioned, well thought out, and we had so much fun with the Japanese toilet!
My chinese is limited to basic conversation only but staff were friendly and the lady at the desk on the day we checked out showed us her newborn kittens! Super super happy all round with this stay!
Note to other guests:
- Taxis will have to drop you a few streets away as much of the old town's streets are too narrow for cars.
- The entrance is right on the canal, not round a corner.
- The door is open at all times, so don't worry if you're back late!

2203176****This guesthouse offers exceptional service, a definite upgrade from others I've stayed in. The room facilities are excellent, with Kohler brand fixtures in the bathroom. The courtyard is beautifully designed in a traditional, picturesque style. They provided information about free parking and a contact number. The owner is diligent, enthusiastic, and even offers electric cart transfers. The guesthouse is conveniently located right at the entrance to the scenic area, and the prices are very reasonable, making it great value for money in the Kunshan area.
SSCTan (Malaysia)Our stay at Zhouzhuang Zen Yili was absolutely wonderful—a perfect blend of comfort, warmth, and convenience!
Taxi can dropped us off within 1 minute walking distance away from Zen Yili. Zhouzhuang ancient village entrance is just a few minutes walk from Zen Yili making it incredibly convenient for sightseeing and activities. The peaceful surroundings of the homestay also added to the relaxing vibe.
The hosts, both husband and wife were exceptionally kind and gave us great local tips. They provided us more than enough fresh fruits, tea, biscuits and mineral water. I was surprised also that the room was with full mosquitoes nettings with even anti mosquitoes device provided if needed. During our stay the homestay and its surroundings ware without mosquitoes.
The room was spotless, with fresh linens and a cozy atmosphere. The bathroom was of five star standard for its fittings, and was very well-maintained.
Before we checked out, we were given delicious homemade biscuits out of their hospitality. They also arranged for us a reliable and comfortable pickup after checked out.
For the price, this homestay offered excellent value.
We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to couples, families, or solo travelers looking for a peaceful retreat in Zhouzhuang ancient village.

GGuest UserIt is very convenient to park in the parking lot. The building has the characteristics of the Qing Dynasty, especially the independent courtyard with fresh plants, which is very suitable for listening to the rain on rainy days; the back of the bed is also ingeniously opened with glass, so it is not too dark during the day; the hotel is also very clean, but I also brought a disposable four-piece set.
The customer service guy is very enthusiastic and will answer any questions. Everyone can rest assured to stay here

GGuest UserWe had a wonderful 2 nights in this family-run hotel. The host was extremely kind, friendly and helpful; he made us feel completely at home, and even gave us two delicious homemade ‘lard cakes’ to take with us because we’d enjoyed them so much at breakfast one morning!
The rooms are lovely - spacious, very light, bright and private. Really nice interior design. Ours was on the top floor with a roof top deck and great views over the lake and village.
The bed was very comfortable with fresh, clean linen and towels. There’s a kettle on the room but you need to bring your own tea or coffee. That said, tea and hot water were available 24-hours a day downstairs.
The meals in the hotel restaurant were delicious and fresh; they’re cooked onsite with ingredients that are caught or grown on the island, and are very good value. We ate breakfast (included) both mornings and dinner on our first night.
We felt very welcome and would definitely stay here again if we came back.
The main thing to note is that the host (and very few people on the island) speak English, so having some Chinese definitely helps! But we felt very welcome at all times, even when our language skills reached their limits!

Outstanding
GGhost Traveller(I am Korean) I have never seen a Korean in Tongli, but I am leaving this for those who might come here.
I cannot speak Korean to the owner, but I was kindly guided through a translator. Just sitting in the beautifully decorated garden and the old-fashioned hall made me feel at ease. The room is so pretty that an hour passes by just taking pictures in the room. The interior is decorated with traditional furniture and has a modern bathroom, so it is very comfortable. You can think of it as a facility that was renovated from a regular house into a hotel. It feels like a '**old house' in Korea. And the location is also on the main street of Tongli-gujeon. When you go out, it is a picture.
However, to enter Tongli-gujeon, you have to pay 20,000 won (discount if you make a reservation at least one day in advance) even if you have a reservation at the hotel inside. I was surprised because I did not know this, but it was worth paying 20,000 won to stay there. That is because if you stay in the accommodation inside Tongli-gujeon, you can feel the 'night' of Tongli-gujeon.
There are many tourists during the day, but at night it becomes quiet and the night view unfolds. It is a scenery that people who come for a day trip would never know. Seeing young Chinese couples taking pretty pictures and walking hand in hand, I thought that this might be the most romantic place in Suzhou.
