Would recommend this hotel for a family staycation rather than a couple’s. Parking is quite tight and narrow.
overall, our stay at DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Penang was top-notch. The rooms, amenities, location, and staff service were all A+ grade. Hilton maintains its high standards, and we were thoroughly enjoying our trip—until we interacted with the concierge service.
Unfortunately, the concierge technically misled us into taking a personal/private trip. It ended up costing us a huge amount of extra money in damages/demurrage, which felt like a personal scam/cheating. It was completely unprofessional and left a very bitter taste on an otherwise perfect vacation.
The Hilton management seriously needs to monitor and be extremely cautious about their concierge team's activities and recommendations. Guests should be very careful when taking tour advice or booking transport/trips directly through the concierge here.
Aside from this concierge incident, everything else at the hotel was excellent. But because of this issue, I urge both future guests and management to stay vigilant.
Don’t let the ‘Hilton’ name fool you. Staff are not trained to be in hospitality- not friendly or helpful. We waited AGES for our room key after 3pm. Only to be told the room was just painted. We asked for a different room as you cannot possibly think it’s ok to sleep in a room that was recently painted. We got a new room key and then the key card was not activated so we could not get up the lift and to our room. The room was clean but the towels we got daily were stained / dirty.
For our first meal after check in, the restaurant was empty and the waiter got both of our orders wrong. He could not have been preoccupied with anything else.
The gate to the ‘beach’ across the road is never locked so anyone could come into the hotel.
This hotel is a huge disappointment.
**Hygiene:** After one night, the pillowcases caused breakouts. The bedding had a pervasive musty smell. There was a noticeable non-personal hair under the bedsheet. Upon entering the room, I saw small bugs crawling on the toiletries. The bathroom sink was covered in black stains that were completely ignored. The most outrageous part: the shower water quality was ridiculously poor. After only two or three showers, the filter became so dirty (see P1) that it's impossible to feel safe.
**Environment:** From the hallway to the room, there was an inescapable musty smell in the air. It was extremely damp and so foul that returning to the room felt like torture, not rest. The room floor was covered in damp water stains.
**Facilities:** I don't know how the bathroom was designed. The shower only has a half-glass sliding door, so all the shower water splashes onto the floor tiles outside. This makes it incredibly slippery every time I step out of the shower. Given my recent sacrum discomfort, I nearly fell several times.
Staffs' services were good,
Breakfast so so, not very delicious.
Bridge to the beach was closed during our stay, quite dangerous to walk across the road
No ping-pong table..
We get the room with breakfast package. The food is very nice and we enjoy very much there.
Location wise it's located not at the far end of Batu Ferringhi so quite near to town for us to travel around.
Room is cozy. Every is good
