Overall good, nice service, the beach is convenient with all activities around, a bit far from airport, hard to get grab to the airport in the morning
The hotel is big, family oriented and kids friendly. Staff is friendly and helpful. Only hiccups, they handle my luggage and was sent to the wrong room. I had to make a call to and fro to check on my luggage. Bellhop keep asking what colour is my bag. In the end my husband had to go down to collect our luggage. Housekeeping didnt throw away the rubbish. I booked with a special request birthday trip and the management gave us a complimentary small birthday cake. Thank you for the kind gesture, appreciate it. We had a best birthday staying at the resort. The place is quite and safe at night. A lot of halal food to explore around the resort area. Only if want to go out to town its a long drive and traffic is heavy. Thank you Shangri-La Golden Sand for making our stay memorable.

There is also a newer Shangri-La nearby, so it just depends on whether you prefer a lively atmosphere or a quiet one.
It has been 3 years from my last visit to Golden Sands Shangrila Penang. There were few positive changes that i can see and feel. The hotel has improved in terms of the room condition, staffs professionalism and the food quality. The swimming pools are always the best part of the hotel. The weather was great throughout my stay. The receptionist named Jenaga was quite helpful and polite during the check-in process. Will come back
I am satisfied staying at this hotel, but I am very disappointed because my request to get a slice of cake for my child's birthday was not fulfilled. I am very disappointed because I booked my stay at this hotel a long time ago.
My kids enjoyed staying here, mmg each time nak weekends staycation akan request to stay dekat Shangri-La and for us parents mmg sgt puas hati sebab byk kids activities and facilities, they have kids pools, kids indoor playgrounds, kids and parents waiting area & even kids breakfast corner, will absolutely repeat lagi dan lagi ❤️
