The Koguryo Royal City Cultural Site is located in Ji'an City, Jilin Province. It is the remains of the Koguryo Dynasty, a slave state. It includes Guonei City, Wandu Mountain City, royal tombs (14) and tombs of dignitaries (26).
The royal city, royal tombs and tombs of dignitaries of Goguryeo mainly include Wunü Mountain City, Guonei City, Wandu Mountain City, 12 royal tombs, 26 tombs of dignitaries, the Monument of King Gwanggaeto and the No. 1 companion tomb of the General Tomb. Guonei City and Wandu Mountain City (originally named Unayan City) were the capitals of Goguryeo in the early and middle periods (1st-5th century AD), and their characteristics were that the plain city and the mountain city were interdependent and served as the capital. Outside Guonei City and Wandu Mountain City, on the Tonggou Plain surrounded by mountains, there are nearly 7,000 tombs from the Goguryeo era - the Donggou Ancient Tombs, which can be called the top of the ancient tombs in Northeast Asia. It not only reflects the historical development process of Goguryeo from different aspects, but also is a precious cultural and artistic treasure house left by Goguryeo to mankind.

Show More ReviewsThe Goguryeo Relics and Historic Sites Tourist Area is located in Ji'an City, Tonghua City, Jilin Province, China. It is an important historical and cultural site in Northeast Asia and the only World Cultural Heritage site in Northeast China. The area was inscribed on the World Heritage List in 2004 and officially rated as a National 5A-level Tourist Attraction in 2020. On this trip with friends, we mainly visited Wandu Mountain City, the Stele of King Gwanggaeto, and the Tomb of King Jangsu. We hired a professional guide and learned a lot about the history of the Goguryeo Kingdom; it's definitely worth a visit.
