based on 35 reviewsIn the southeast of Zaozhuang City, Taierzhuang Ancient City is located in the central belt of the last section of the Grand Canal. It is a famous water town north of the Yangtze and an ancient canal city. The ancient city was demolished in the 1938 Battle of Taierzhuang. The old city seen today is a reconstruction, with many scenic spots reconstructed on their original sites. However, the city still retains many remnants of its history as a battlefield. Taierzhuang incorporates eight different architectural styles so that visitors can experience both the style of southern Shandong and the folk customs of north Jiangsu. You can't go wrong by taking a stroll among the quiet lanes, catching boat rides on the Grand Canal, or watching an exciting folk performance.

Show More ReviewsIt's a short drive from Xuzhou. During the day, it's quite hot, so it's not crowded. However, it's bustling with people at night, a truly beautiful sight. So, if you're in Taierzhuang, definitely stay overnight to fully appreciate its beauty! I took my child there. The scenic area is very spacious; children under 18 get in for free with their ID cards, and Xuzhou residents get significant discounts. I got an annual pass for unlimited entry – so convenient! As for food, I did a lot of research, and the must-try dishes in Taierzhuang are the yellow flower beef noodles and spicy chicken! So, I took a taxi there and ate at Master Song's, which many people recommended. The taste was just average; the noodles weren't cooked properly. The spicy chicken was okay, but too spicy, and the meat was too chewy. The stir-fried goose egg with cold noodles was pretty good, but the portions were huge!
