This old Japanese inn offers an authentic experience with attentive and thoughtful service, including shuttle transfers to and from the station. The guest room has a well-designed, square layout with a living room of about 20㎡, a separate bedroom, and a bathroom with a dry/wet separation. The living room features a large dining table and high chairs, so there's no need to sit formally on the floor. The hotel shares 4 hot springs with the adjacent Yamato-kan, and I enjoyed trying all four during my two-night, three-day stay – it was a fantastic experience. The location is excellent, right next to Lake Kinrin and the main branch of Shin釜飯. It's just over a 1km walk from the train station, with picturesque scenery and unique shops along the way. Since the price was quite high on the weekend, I didn't book meals, but I heard the dining is Michelin-level.

We originally booked a room on the second floor, but upon arrival, they upgraded us to a first-floor room which had a private onsen. However, we didn't end up using it much because it was a bit rainy during our stay. The hotel itself is a bit older. The service was very responsive; after arriving at Yuinonomori Station, we called them and they sent a car to pick us up and take us to the hotel. One evening, flying insects got into our room, and we called the front desk to send someone to remove them. This is a downside of being on the first floor; it feels like if windows aren't properly secured and a gap is left, bugs will fly in. The hotel has four public onsen baths in total, with two open in the morning and two in the evening. Due to time constraints, we only tried the one closest to our room. The facilities were quite old, and it wasn't on the same level as the onsens in the city. I'd suggest installing a keypad lock at the entrance to the women's onsen; otherwise, anyone could just walk in. Both the breakfast and dinner kaiseki meals were quite extensive, served course by course, but I didn't find them particularly impressive; the quality was rather average.

The room was incredibly spacious, and both breakfast and dinner were served right in our living room. For sleeping, there was a dedicated tatami bedroom. The courtyard was huge and featured cute mushrooms, lots of butterflies, and even fruit trees. There were two private onsen pools, one indoor and one outdoor, though we didn't use them. It was too hot in summer, and the outdoor one had quite a few leaves floating in it, making it look a bit dirty. The public one was okay. The Japanese service was very warm and welcoming, and while the English translation was a bit weak, we always managed to communicate.

I really appreciated Komo-san's kind and thoughtful hospitality. The food was exquisite and beautifully presented, and the room was spotless. The ryokan was more spacious than I expected, and having two gardens made for a very pleasant and comfortable stay.

The hotel is located right next to Kinrin Lake, nestled amidst lush greenery. We were upgraded to a suite, and the view from the window was like a painting – it truly felt like we were living in a forest. The hotel's Kaiseki cuisine was excellent, and the service was very attentive.

The room was spacious and beautiful, featuring an indoor garden and a private onsen. The public bath was also excellent, and both dinner and breakfast were delicious. The hotel is within walking distance from Yufuin Station and close to the picturesque Kinrin Lake. However, there are two points I must complain about. Firstly, a staff member opened our room door five minutes before check-out, seemingly rushing us to leave, and other services felt rushed and hurried. Such incidents shouldn't occur in a high-end ryokan like this. Secondly, I understand that it was Golden Week, a busy period for transfers, so we opted not to use the hotel's shuttle service back to the station. However, when we tried to adjust our plans, there was no flexibility in their arrangements. So, it's a mixed bag of good and bad. The facilities and food are excellent, but the service is just average, which certainly isn't great for the price.

Our stay at Yufuin "Tano-kura" was absolutely flawless. First off, the service was truly top-notch. Our dedicated staff member (SIC) was incredibly professional and attentive, taking exceptional care of us throughout our visit. What really put us at ease was their meticulous attention to confirming food allergies, which allowed us to fully enjoy the exquisite and delicious cuisine without any worries. Every interaction, from the introduction to the hotel facilities to the meal service in our room, was handled with utmost politeness and respect. The environment was impeccably clean and tidy, making for a wonderfully comfortable stay. This trip truly allowed us to relax completely; we left feeling fully recharged and revitalized. Our sincere thanks for such a perfect experience!
