based on 185 reviewsThe Wulong Three Natural Bridges, located in Fairy Mountain Town, Wulong District, Chongqing, is a typical karst landform scenic attraction. The three natural stone arch bridges—Tianlong Bridge, Qinglong Bridge, and Heilong Bridge—are arranged longitudinally and parallel across the Yangshui River Canyon. Each bridge is over 200 meters high, connecting the mountains on both sides to form a unique landscape of "three bridges sandwiching two sinkholes." The huge depressions between the bridges are what people commonly call "sinkholes." The appearance of three giant natural bridges in a short stretch of canyon is a very rare sight.
The three bridges each have a distinct appearance: Tianlong Bridge is tall and imposing, with an archway beneath it; after rain, waterfalls often cascade down from Qinglong Bridge, and the mist reflects rainbows in the sunlight, hence the bridge's name; Heilong Bridge is named for its deep and dark archway, with numerous mountain springs hanging between its walls. At the bottom of the pit, streams murmur and trees are lush and green; looking up, one sees near-vertical cliffs with mountain springs cascading down from the top, making walking through it feel like traversing a canyon in the heart of the earth.
The tour typically begins with taking a sightseeing elevator down to the bottom of the pit, then following the valley floor path through three arched bridges, admiring the bridge arches and cliff faces. At the bottom of the Tianlong Bridge pit lies the Tianfu Official Post Station, an antique-style courtyard house with blue tiles, gray walls, and upturned eaves. This area was once a post station during the Tang Dynasty, and the courtyard has been restored to its original appearance. It served as a filming location for Zhang Yimou's film *Curse of the Golden Flower*, and also for *Transformers 4* and the film version of *Once Upon a Time*. After the tour, uphill ride the path to exit the attraction. You can take a shuttle bus back to the Fairy Mountain Town visitors Center, or you can visit the adjacent Longshuixia Gorge, experiencing both "sinkholes" and "gorges" karst landscapes in one trip.
