Statue of Union Commander
The statue of Meade sits on Cemtery Ridge the sight of the final push by the Confederates during the last day of the Battle, Pickett's Charge. It is a short walk from his headquarters.
I saw this monument as a part of the free auto tour. This is an excellent monument for General Meade. It is built with excellent craftsmanship, and you can just see how much work was put into it.
The fact that the General Meade and Lee's statues face each other from their respective positions in the battle is impressive. The statue itself is very detailed.
There are many monuments to see in this town, but this stands out as a remembrance standing in the middle of a huge field. To understand what all occurred not in just this town but many towns serves ...
