Xisha Maritime Museum

In the Xisha Islands, there is a maritime museum founded by officers and soldiers stationed on the island. It is not only a marine museum in the southern tip of our country, but also a marine museum founded by soldiers in our country - Xisha Oceanographic Museum. The officers and soldiers stationed on the island made specimens of some of the sea turtles that climbed on the beach and collected shellfish, and displayed them in a centralized manner. The Xisha Oceanographic Museum is located on Yongxing Island and was founded in the 1980s. On New Year's Day in 2001, the new museum of the Oceanographic Museum was officially opened. The expanded museum exhibition hall covers an area of about 800 square meters. There are more than 400 kinds of specimens and pictures and more than 3,000 pieces (pieces). Many specimens of marine life are displayed in the museum. For example, the "horseshoe snail" with the bottom like a horse's hoof and the shape of a pyramid, the sea cucumber "Plum ginseng" with plum blossoms, as well as various fish specimens, coral flowers and stone flowers of various shapes, make the whole exhibition hall dazzling and interesting.
