Shenzhen is a great place to take kids out for a walk
Looking for an outdoor spot to take the kids in the summer, but worried about the heat and sun? Head to Donghu Park!
This is a park I stumbled upon on the map. Not only does it have vast expanses of grassland and tall coconut trees, but it also has a fishing area for adults, a water play area for children, a zoo, and a botanical garden. It's simply the perfect place to take the kids out in the summer. We went there for two consecutive weekends and are thinking of going again next weekend.
The park is roughly over 200 hectares in size, which is quite large. All you can see is greenery. We arrived at about 4 o'clock, and it wasn't too hot. Regarding parking:
Parking requires a reservation through 'Beautiful Shenzhen', but the park has very few spots, only about twenty. We parked in a building's parking lot very close to the south gate entrance of the park (about ten meters away), which cost 15 yuan.
Essentials to bring:
Picnic mat, hammock, baby toys (bubble machine, kite, frisbee, plastic airplane, etc.), and food.
Tying the hammock between two coconut trees and lying on it is so comfortable!
If you don't want to bring food, you can order from the KFC food truck next to the lawn.
Fun Animal Garden:
Inside, there are peacocks, squirrels, and other small animals, very close to the south gate.
Donghu Park is an old park in Shenzhen's hearts. In addition to the annual chrysanthemum exhibition, the most impressive is the artificial lake. It is in the center of Donghu Park. The lake water is flowed by the Shenzhen reservoir. There are three islands in it. There is also a water pavilion by the lake.
Donghu Park was built in 1961 and carries the memories of many Shenzhen citizens as children. The park is quiet and densely wooded, and there are countless citizens who come here to exercise and relax every day. There are also amusement parks, art galleries, fun zoos and other places to play, adding more playability. Not far from the park gate, there is an open-air theater, sometimes there are acrobatics, small performances, etc. The playground has bumper cars, pirate ships, roller coasters and other projects. The zoo has small animals like sika deer, monkeys, peacocks and other children. There are also traditional thrush-fight competitions and chrysanthemum exhibitions in the park. The thrush-fight competitions are held every New Year's Day, which is wonderful. The chrysanthemum exhibition was held in November, with colorful and dark fragrance floating.
Shenzhen Donghu Park, located at 4006 Aiguo Road, Luohu District, Shenzhen, is free. The park was founded in 1961 and officially opened to the public in 1966. It is the earliest famous park in Shenzhen, with a large area, more attractions, more facilities, and viewing, amusement and service.
