It is a rock that prays for good fishing and sea safety.

The Meotoiwa of Futami Okitama Shrine, which is famous for visiting before visiting Ise Jingu, is famous, but there was also Futami Meotoiwa in Toyokita-cho, Shimonoseki City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. It suddenly appears along the coast where National Highway No. 191 runs, so it is a rock that you might overlook if you are not aware of it. Two large and small rocks were connected with vermilion shimenawa. There is no dedicated parking lot, but you can park on the shoulder of the road, so I think it's better to stop there and then look slowly. Behind Futamiura, in Mt. Maji ...
If you go to Tsunoshima, this is a spot you want to hold.

On the border between Toyokita and Toyoura, there is an old fisherman town Futamiura, which overlooks Hibiki Nada. Meotoiwa, which stands by the coast beside the national highway, is worshiped as a sacred rock, and the rope that connects the two rocks is replaced by the hand of a young man who is tightened on 1 month 2 every year. When the sunset sets in Hibiki Nada, the scenery created by the combination of rocks, sea and sun makes you feel mysterious and terrifying. There is a place where the car stops along the road, so it stops, but when you cross the lane and go to the sea side ...
Futami Meotoiwa is a large rock passed by Shimenawa standing on the shore of the Sea of Japan, large and small. You can see it while driving in either direction from east to west, but it's not offshore, so if you get too close, you won't be able to see it from the car. However, there is no parking lot and there is no place with a wide shoulder. I don't think it's for sightseeing, but there was a ladder-like staircase.
You can see it at a glance while driving. A rock with a shimenawa appears by the sea. It was a place where it was difficult to park the car, and it was difficult to detour on the way from the Tsunoshima side to Shimonoseki, so I looked from the train window.
