It's a high ground along Route 9.
Original Text
At the end of the Edo period, Choshu was a place where cannons were placed against foreign ships, but there is nothing in particular. Since it is a hill near the sea, you can enjoy the view of the Kanmon Strait.
It is a spot where you can enjoy the view of the Kanmon Strait!

The site of the Maeda Battery is about 15 minutes by car from Shimonoseki City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, and is a park after the installation of the Battery at the end of the Edo period. This park is located on a hill facing the Kanmon Strait, so you can enjoy the view of the Kanmon Strait. It may be a good spot for a break after a drive.
It is a short walk from the national highway. It's a historic place that fans at the end of the Edo period will not miss, but there is an apartment built in front of you and there is no remnant of that time. Under the Kanmon Bridge along the national highway, if you go to Dannoura, you will find a replica of the battery facing the sea, so if you want to survive that time, you can feel the atmosphere if you go there.
As you write, there is nothing left. You can see CG with the QR code on the site. The view of the sea from there is also in the condominium, and the whole view is not visible. As an aside, there is a monument (Gyokei Monument and Crown Prince's visit monument) where the crown prince visited nearby. The text is a little difficult to understand, but I think Emperor Hirohito Showa was the crown prince era.
The ruins of the Emishi conducted by the Choshu clan. It is located between Shimonoseki city and Chofu city on a hill overlooking the Kanmon Strait. It was equipped with 20 cannons, but it was occupied by the French army during the Shimonoseki War. The earthwork remains as it is.
